A monster pile of paper and shit like that has been slowly accumulating on my desk. So today, I took the opportunity to tidy up a bit. I reorganized my desk, rounding up stray pens and sticky notes that I no longer need ( Read more... )

Ha! That headset setup is pretty tight.

[Disclaimer: I've only read ONE article about this vaccine, so I don't actually know anything and this is just my gut reaction to that article.]

The counterpoint is absolutely retarded. Do they really think that the possibility of cervical cancer is the deciding factor for preteen girls considering sex?? Um, NO. How about emotional readiness, relationship issues, PREGNANCY, herpes, AIDS, all that crap? Just ignore that -- "Oh, I can't get cervical cancer, so no holding back for me!" I'm personally amazed that people exist who would deny girls the right to protect themselves from disease.

If this thing can save lives, we should use it. It SHOULD be as simple as that.

HPV is widely ignored, but very dangerous. Hooray for cheap vaccines. Why would not having to worry about something don't know about change anything?

Definitely not a "license to kill." It's preventative. I doubt I've come into contact with anyone with rubella. Plus, sex isn't exactly the moral/danger equlivalent of killing.

Also, what about rape? If we can't protect our children from the emotional trauma and everything else you can get from that, at least we can protect them from cervical cancer.
