Sorry to hear that you're not going to DC but it really sounds like you are making the best choice for you and your family at this point in time. It won't be the last opportunity for you.
I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I hope she gets better soon. Are you going to see her in the hospital? I know you're not very close with her, from what I've read, but I still know its difficult.
I just ended up going home, taking some excedrine, and calling it a night. I was much better this morning. I hate migraines.
I think that I am making the best decision as well. A good friend put it very well. She said that yes, I was passing up an awesome opportunity, but I will have other opportunities of this calibur in the future.
Also, I got screwed out of going to Washington DC when I was 18, I think that I am kinda destined to just not make it there... ;)
My step mom (sorry seriously sensitive about that) is a minor part of the reason why I am staying. I don't know why I am making it sound like it's more of the reason. I don't know why I feel responsible, when my brother is going to NYC.
Sorry about the labeling thing (mom vs step-mom). Your previous post had just said mom so I thought this was your real mom (which I think you had said had some health issues before so thought it was her you were referring to). Anyway, either way things suck. Does she have a terminal, long-term type illness or do you think things will improve?
My mom has remarried two times since she was married to my dad. I know how the step-parent and step-siblings thing is awkward at times.
At least you'll be staying close to home to help your dad through things, and you'll be closer to Evan than if you were in DC, right?
Oh, and don't worry about DC either. It's not going anywhere. ;)
Its okay. It's an honest mistake. People make it all the time, and although it bothers me, I know few people that I would actually feel comfortable correcting.
no NOW?! well, you've gotta follow your instincts. you'll still do great things. (= and i'm all about the sacing money for school. it's exciting to have money.
p.s. i'm free for dinner whenever is best for you next week. i get off at 5 every day, so you pick the time & place--my treat. let me know!
