Thanks for your support. I wish that more law students would follow suit. I hope to think that it's because they are simply unaware. I was unaware. And if they become aware, they'd be willing to do something about it.

glad you enjoyed your trip. it's hard, sometimes, to describe to someone why i can't leave this place. i know i will someday, but right now...i just can't.
i never really realized or noticed the racial things you described being Indian here, but I guess that's my ignorant white privledge. There's even the hispanic box these days that it's normal to fit into. And I hate to say it, but the only people I can think of anywhere close to Indian are the guys that run the convenience stores. I was seriously racking my brain when i read that and that's all I could come up with. Wow.

Yeah, I agree. I think that there has been a huge influx of the Latino population to NOLA, sadly it really wasn't the part of the population that I got to spend much time with (re: research & work & fun). However, you're right. I saw a few indian law students (from other schools) and a lone cab driver (who of course asked me if I was indian, and what I was doing in NOLA and if I spoke Hindi), who we happened across twice in our stay.

I am hopefully going to continue work with Katrina Evacuees in Houston & The Student Hurricane Network.
I am interested in hearing your thoughts on what's going to happen to the city though and what it's been like for you since you have moved back.
