Wow.

I remember reading an Associated Press article on Katrina aftermath a month or two ago. It showed a picture of a woman in her FEMA trailer, her family's situation, how they were still waiting for money for some more permanent housing, etc. The article had the stats (estimates) of the numbers of people in FEMA trailers. It was heartbreaking. And the stuff about the contractors, god awful, but totally believable. Shoddy, shoddy stuff.

This trip sounds life-changing. It's great that you're realizing you're not getting enough direct legal experience and advocating for that (and your prof is advocating that too). I hope you get that before you leave there.

Thanks for the update. You're doing good work, everyone there.

You and all of the students on the trip are amazing human beings. You all gave me hope that people still go to law school to change the world!

Peace,

This post is enough to make a person speechless. Reading about the experiences of the NOLA population, their continued hardships... and seeing what you all are doing for them. They must see you as their saviours somehow, when everyone else ignored them or abused them, people like you are who they look to for help now. It's a great thing you're doing and I really admire you for it - I'm sure you're saving lives doing what you do. Seriously.
