I remember reading an Associated Press article on Katrina aftermath a month or two ago. It showed a picture of a woman in her FEMA trailer, her family's situation, how they were still waiting for money for some more permanent housing, etc. The article had the stats (estimates) of the numbers of people in FEMA trailers. It was heartbreaking. And the stuff about the contractors, god awful, but totally believable. Shoddy, shoddy stuff.
This trip sounds life-changing. It's great that you're realizing you're not getting enough direct legal experience and advocating for that (and your prof is advocating that too). I hope you get that before you leave there.
