Poor Liz! The Brig was a bit too calm, methinks, for her state of mind!

Small typo:

She said quickly, kissing his cheek as she moved passed him to the suitcase at the bottom of the steps.

That should be "past" not "passed" (or you could take out the "moved" and it would be correct as "passed".)

My thinking was the Brig had dealt with all the drama and just wanted to get home, and unfortunately Liz hadn't had the chance to deal with all the drama so she was all fussy. Which is weird because I usually write him being the one that fusses.

I don't even know any more, I just want to write them as many ways as possible. If Liz/Brig is a curse, then I've got it bad.

That's what I get for rewriting sentences. And I'd like to make it clear that I don't only love you for the fact that you tell me things like this, but it's definitely up there in the top three reasons.

I can understand that the Brig's been through the stress and calmed down again, but I can also see that Liz hasn't had that so she's reacting less rationally...

Indeed and he's remaining calm so as not to make it worse. Cos you don't necessarily want to start worrying about things around a person who's already at that irrational point. It's like poking a half-awake bear.
