Author's Note: This is my first time writing the Warehouse 13 characters. Bonus points for all the references.
She wasn't sure why all the lights were out at Leena's and, frankly, she didn't much care. Having secured an artefact all on her lonesome - no assistance needed, thank you very much - all she cared about was having the single most luxurious bath in the history of baths... And sleeping for an eternity. Yep, a whole eternity. They could bronze her while she slept, she would not care in the slightest. Getting hold of Annie Oakley's bullet pouch had been more trouble than it was worth.
Not that she would admit that.
Dumping her bag in the hallway and kicking off her sneakers, Claudia headed straight for the kitchen. Perhaps she'd run into Pete. Or Myka on one of those random binges of snack foods she vehemently denies having. Strangely, however, all was quiet. At least it was quiet until there was a noise. There was always a noise. In fact, that particular noise sounded like Artie. She didn’t take him to be a late night binger, but hey each to their own.
“Artemis! You will not believe the sheer awesomeness I displayed on this fine day,” she called out as she grabbed a bag of chips and headed into the sitting room, head down as she searched the bag for that perfect first chip. “It was of such magnitude that children will be singing my praises decades from now and...” she looked up as she finally found the biggest chip in the bag - there was always one massive chip and she liked to claim it.
She paused.
For Claudia it was somewhat of a lifestyle choice to ‘expect the unexpected’. Though, on occasion, the unexpected had a way of tripping her up. “Hey, Doc,” she lifted her hand awkwardly in greeting.
“Hi, Claudia,” Vanessa smiled politely, not wanting to make the situation any more awkward for the poor girl. She knew there was a delicate father/daughter-esque relationship between Claudia and Artie and coming between them was always going to have interesting results. She looked to Artie, but he seemed lost for words. It was only natural when she was sitting on his lap and his hand had been in the process of sliding beneath her skirt. In fact, his hand seemed to be frozen on her thigh. “So, ah, you got the artefact you were looking for... all by yourself?”
“Yeah...” Claudia nodded, her eyes not daring to stray from Vanessa’s lest she see anything else going on that she shouldn’t. “One woman show, me. The original Bionic Woman...” There was another pause. “Right, so I’m gonna go to bed, long day... longer flight... just, so tired. Goodnight!” And with that said she disappeared back the way she’d come and bounded up the stairs to her room, leaving Artie and Vanessa to continue their date in private.
