Pine Barrens 101!
I'm going camping tomorrow in the Pine Barrens, with my Herpetology class.
Maybe we'll see the Jersey Devil!
But, i'm really just hoping to find some lizards - fence lizards and skinks are supposed to be pretty common down there. Hognose snakes, too.

Amber Case, Cybernetic Anthropologist
Amber Case argues that we're all cyborgs, we have been for all of human history, and we're only becoming more so as we slide into the future.
I don't entirely accept the whole argument, but it is a great, fun, & low-key presentation with much worth thinking over. She also states one of my favourite assertions in science fiction, namely that if you ( Read more... ) -

Snow Day
I had been intending to go to ECC, which is up in Owego this year, but looks like Mother Nature had other plans. I'm just glad we have that industrial-strength snow blower! ;) -
Legacies: Mapping the Eastern Lands
I took a break from D&D this weekend to dive back into my "Legacies" gnostic-fantasy setting - this time taking it forward in time to the "Age of Steam". 4e: An Alternative Set of Rewards
I'm preparing to GM a story-arc sized campaign for my long-time gaming group in the next few weeks, and while i have a very good idea of what i'd like to do in regards to the situation/story, i am less confident with my ability to wrangle the D&D beast into submission.

In yet another TV-related post, i just watched the finale for Dollhouse... which struck me as making a great alternative setting for a classic kind of post-apocalyptic RPG.
