The naming of characters is a difficult thing

I'm three four days into Camp NaNo and I'm actually on track to meet (or exceed) my goal of getting the first 30k of Zombie Circus written. Woot! It's already starting to feel real and flow nicely and it feels *good* writing it, which is something I've learned is a good sign from writing fanfic

I find names really interesting, so I'm all about getting the perfect name, no matter how big a part they play in the story. Which is hard, but I have found it easier since joining a forum about names. Somehow learning more about names and naming and being exposed to lots of them makes it easier to pick one out of the air without too much thought. Although, lists of names that were popular in various decades help too :)

Scrivener, the author software, has a name generator for minor characters which is ace. But major characters, I sometimes rename over and over until it sounds right to me. Sometimes they name themselves at the start and that's who they are forever.
