*squee!flail*

Is it bad that I saw a lot more Spock/Bones possibility in the early parts of the film and didn't really start buying the Kirk/Spock until the "turn Spock into a maniac?

No. I saw more Kirk/Bones though. Kirk/Spock didn't really hit me 'til the stallion line when I facepalmed. If any of the staff were playing spot the slasher I think I made it easy for 'em with the action and mouthing of 'Oh my GOD, the internet is going to die.'

I'm hoping they build her role a little in the next film.So do I. They did a great job with NOT making her all about the love interest. I loved the way she tore a strip off Spock to get reassigned because it laid the law down - Uhura is career first, personal shit second. So I can see the Uhura/Spock working - Spock's got SEVERE personal shit first. I liked the lift scene 'cause it was gender role reversing in that Uhura was the one providing the shoulder to cry on and not the other way round ( ... )

I found some Star Trek icons! Very excited :-)

That stallion line was genius :-) And, yes, very, very slashy. I heard a few giggles from the audience at that stage and I did wonder whether there were some slashers in there :-) I think that I've always had the "they bicker like a married couple" thing with Spock and Bones, but never actually seen the slash possibilities until this move. Someone on the writing staff had to know what they were doing with some of that, right?

They did a great job with NOT making her all about the love interest. That was actually handled much better than I'd expected. Although, to be fair, I'd been spoiler-phobic and had no idea until that first elevator scene ( ... )

I even spotted the Enterprise reference!

Okay, I missed this one. Can you enlighten me? :)

*g* Scotty mentions that he'd had an argument with his teacher about physics and beaming technology and decided to demonstrate his theories on a living creature. He'd know it worked when Admiral Archer's beagle reappeared somewhere :-)

This is what I don't get about all the cinemas near where I live - you buy a ticket but not for a specific seat. So when I went to see Nemesis, although I'd bought the ticket in advance, by the time I got there the only seats were at the front. Which makes it completely pointless buying tickets in advance. At least the cinema at home still lets you buy tickets for a specific seat, even if they've just had a refurbishment (and takeover) and now the only seats with a decent view are premium ones, despite being exactly the same seats. You would have liked them, though, because they rocked a bit - I had to brace mine with my feet on the arm of the seat in front because my seat rocking was not a help.

I'd love it if I could book seats at my cinema's here, but OTOH it was fun to get there early and join in with the anticipation. If my seat had been reserved then I wouldn't have been there that early!

Um, I can imagine rocking not helping you much :-)

I don't have anticipation, just boredom.

You definitely need to see it when it's on DVD - I loved it to bits. Karl Urban is just perfect as McCoy.

Now you know why I have had so much trouble staying quiet for the last three weeks !!! The core of classic trek has always been around the spock-kirk-mccoy dynamic and they captured that perfectly..

And as for the first away team .. gung ho guy we have never seen before in a red outfit .. so doomed ..

You have been so restrained! I'm not sure that I would have been quite so goood :-)

Oh yes, they really did :-D

.. so doomed ..

It wouldn't be Trek without a doomed redshirt :-)
