I'm checking various online resources, and unless something has changed very recently, the UK is one destination where you are *not allowed* to bring knitting on the plane. I'd hate for you to have it confiscated! It might be worth calling the airline to doublecheck.

My plan is to knit in the main terminal until my gate is called and then stash the knitting at the bottom of my bag :-) It'll be on bamboo needles so there won't be anything to find on the X-rays and I'll be sleeping on the flight rather than knitting. I've heard so many different things from different people that I don't know what to believe anymore! I may ask one of the stewards at some stage during the flight (perhaps near the end...) as a hypothetical, the next time I fly sort of thing to feel out what would happen if I produced a sock on an itty bitty set of match-stick bamboo DPNs :-)
