Hand luggage has been packed. I'm hoping that nobody looks too carefully at the weight of my hand luggage or asks me to unpack my 'purse'. I don't think that most people carry 320GB external hard drives in their purse ( Read more... )

*g* Why did I think that would be a weird question knowing my f-list? Heh.

The flight was stressful, but I'm here and customs/immigration was a breeze. So happy and excited now :-)

Thank you, my lovely. Journey was fine and I am now officially a Canadian resident. Feeling much, much more relaxed now {{{{hugs}}}}

I usually have a drive or two with me ..

Last years US trip (Uk to San D Comic con to Vegas to Frisco to UK) was fun - my hand luggage had two cameras, a video camera, a laptop, an Arcos video player thing, an Ipod, a headphone amp, noise cancelling headphones, several books and comics, glass plate LED reading lamp things (x2) 2 x external HDD's, PDA, several magzines and a load of tat picked up at comic con... It was quite funny to see the security guy at customs give up after I was still pulling stuff out 10 minutes after they xrayed the bag.

As for weight allowences - I'm usually at least 5 Kilos over on every bag and never had to pay except once coming back from Saudi - and was 30 Kilos over and they only charged me for 10 ....

*snicker* I suspect that my f-list is not representative of the general population. Should have known that *you* would have all that kit! I'd love to have seen that guy's face...

I couldn't decide whether I'd get the check-in agents feeling happy and letting me on with a bit of excess or the grouchy, mean agent who would make me pay if I was 500G over. On reflection I wish that I'd taken that chance, but I was already worried that they wouldn't let me take the archery equipment. At least I know for future reference! What I've left behind can always come at Christmas when my family come to stay, so it's not the end of the world.
