I meant to answer this when you posted it and then entirely forgot.

I've been trying to think how it would be useful. The only way I can think is if you have eg a post per fandom and comments with newsletters in, that way people can add their own. Although it could get complicated with people trying to make other comments.

Or I suppose a post per newsletter all tagged, but either way I can see it would be a pain to add all the ones on the list already.

And you can't have that name - LJ limits you to 15 characters :)

At the moment, the newsletter index is pretty easy to maintain and I'm happy with that situation. Putting in everything from the current index would be a pain in the butt and I'd need to maintain both because so many people link to the current index.

The only thing that I can see possibly being useful is a community to make newsletter-related announcements: new ones, changes to management, requests for editors, hiatus notices, questions about the status of dormant newsletters etc. I'm not sure how much people would use something like that, though, because once you're watching a newsletter you get all the relevant notices about it.

It's the kind of thing that might be a nice theory, but I just haven't worked out how it could be made into a practical thing that's actually used by someone and isn't a nightmare to maintain.
