December Talking Meme: Birthdays

The last topic given to me. Birthdays, to me, are primarily associated with travelling. This started because my Aged Parents were in fact very young parents when they had me, at the start of their 20s, and so had all the youthful earnestness to do it right. So when, say, the entire family was in Northern Germany celebrating an uncle's 60th birthday

which meant they met sure I went to every birthday party I was ever invited to as well.

Oh, I know that feeling! My very sociable mother could not understand why I preferred reading to birthday parties, so I had to go to all of them too. She still looks a bit startled when I do anything sociable :)

Good timing! It's actually my birthday today. We don't really celebrate birthdays much in my family, though, and I think the last time I had a party was back when I was seven or eight. (Fortunately, my parents were as unsociable as I am and understood completely, plus having a birthday that falls between Christmas and New Year's means that I've usually either seen everyone a week or two before or have plans to see them in January.) So this year, like last, I'm just going to see the latest Hobbit film with my dad, in keeping with the family tradition we started back with the original LotR trilogy.
