Mongolia II: From the Altai Mountains to the Southern Gobi

The time difference is playing havoc with my internal clock, I woke up and can't sleep anymore (it's in the middle of the night in Germany), which is why you're getting the second pic spam already. Fabulous photos. The landscape is truly extraordinary and I love the shot of the camel with the antlers plus real camels. Shame about the camera but kudos to the mobile phone for stepping into the breach!

I tell you, Steve Jobs and whichever minions are responsible get my praise for the mobile phone development alone, because if I had lost all camera access after a week, I'd have felt so miserable!

I thought of you when hearing the Mongolian equivalent of "Would the Enterprise D be able to defeat the Death Star", which is "if Genghis Khan would have fought Alexander the Great, who'd have won?".

I give you three guesses about who the Mongolians were backing, and the first two don't count.:)

Oh yes, we were driving through rivers now and then. No roads often means no bridges, either. In the post I'll try to put up today if time permiits, there will be a relevant photo.

This is such a great set of photos! I love the flaming cliffs ones - fabulous.
