Aka the unplanned series finale. Which I have extremely mixed feelings about.

Most of which, I freely admit, have to do with my own biases )

No, I hadn't. LOL. Thanks for linking! It's probably a sad commentary on my spare time that I can actually identify where many of these originated. :)

You always post the best commentary on this show!

I haven't really caught up on the episodes since about the middle of the season, but you do a great job clarifying the things that have made me lose interest (which is a shame because season 2 was so compelling, and I really like the cast a lot). And I hate hate hate the way the Cesare/Lucrezia/Alfonso triangulation was handled -- it's like they picked the absolute worst point in the narrative for the incest to happen (if it had to happen which it really didn't), because they put it at a point where there's no chance to dramatize the effect on C&L's relationship (and I still think that given what the show has portrayed before, their having sex should ruin everything), and it makes Lucrezia's relationship with Alfonso less interesting since her attitude seems to be "well, he's kind of a dud, I guess I'll bang my brother" and then never really recovering from that ( ... )

Watch the last but one episode, The Gunpowder Plot, and skip the rest. That one is a must, though, bringing Rodrigo (and Cesare)full circle to addressing the broken off conversation from the s2 finale and Rodrigo's issues in general, has a fabulous Rodrigo and Vanozza scene to boot, and minimum star crossed lovers incest (at the start) while all the other Lucrezia scenes are about her increasing sense of being trapped in her life and wanting to get out (this includes a great scene with Vannozza as well). (And there's arguably Sean Harris' best performance as Micheletto in it to boot.) So watch that, and it'll leave you with a good way to say goodbye to the show.
