One thing I never had the time to do on previous trips to Venice was to explore the various islands in the bay, other than Murano where I went on my first trip with the parents as a child, ages ago, and not since. (I still have that glass cat with the red fish inside, though.) Consequently, being blessed with enough time, I did my houssitting

The first time we went to Venice we had an all day vaporetto ticket so did Torcello, Burano and Murano. Going from Torcello to Burano was quite a shock because I had no idea of all the mad colours. Thanks for the memories :)

I have still to visit San Giorgio Maggiore because it was wreathed in scaffolding last time we were in Venice. What a good excuse for another trip :)

OOOOH! Colour, colour, colour. I've always loved the different-coloured terraces of some British towns, especially by the seaside, but I didn't know about Burano: wow. I love your travel posts too.
