Day 08 - A show everyone should watch

All the shows ever reviewed in this journal, obviously.:) Okay, more seriously now, I don't think you can answer that question without a certain hyperbole, because when you reccommend shows, you are, or at least I am, usually aware that not everything is for everyone. I know people whom I wouldn't reccommend ( Read more... )

Oh, hey, I didn't know you knew American Gothic! I haven't seen it since it was on TV here in the 90s, but it's definitely stuck with me. I keep meaning to pick up the DVDs someday. (Along with the million other things on my 'To be watched' list...)

Someone's at the door...

Hm, Mayor Regina meets Sheriff Buck meets Mr. Gold? Sheriff Emma meets Reporter Gail? Snow White meets Merlynn? Henry meets Lucas?

Given canon prevents the citizens of Storybrooke to leave the city with their memories intact until most recently, it would have to be the characters from AG paying Maine a visit. Maybe there is a small town student exchange program to encourage North-South cooperation which Gail and Matt Crower, at some vague mid s1 point (for AG, and pre-pilot for OUAT), enlist Caleb for, thinking he will only benefit from a year away from Trinity and Lucas. Who of course has no intention of letting his son go anywhere where he can't set the rules, so he decides to check out Storybrooke. It's a given Merlyn does. As Lucas messes with everyone's mind by asking them whether they haven't read Stephen King and really want to send his son to a small town in Maine, Gail and Dr. Matt go there as well. What Ben's excuse for showing up could be, I don't know, but Selena could go because she's Caleb's teacher ( ... )

I've seen American Gothic thanks to you talking about it, a few years ago. I didn't know about the episode order, though, even if now I have re-agenced them correctly in my head. It was very good, thanks!

And I'm still grateful you sent me the recordings years before the dvds came out.

I remember stumbling across channel 4's late night viewings of AG and just falling in love with the show and the characters. It's the one show where it's hard for me to be bitter about it's early cancellation, just because everything is wrapped up so neatly that it's hard to see where else it could have gone

The DVD's are really annoying though with having to keep swapping disks around when you want to rewatch :/ It wouldn't be so bad if they had included something listing the correct episode order with the DVD's at least, instead of having to search online to remind yourself of which episode fits in where
