My problem with Disney "swallowing up" Lucasfilms is it's just another independent source disappearing. Once again one of the six media giants takes hold of another part of the culture.

That, to me, is the sad part.

I found "Das doppelte Lottchen" in English translation in the library at some point in my youth, and I was all, like, "Hey, a German version of 'The Parent Trap'"! Which was, of course, long before the Lindsay Lohan remake -- I was all about the Hayley Mills version, which was already an old movie by the time I saw it on TV. Anyway, if it's any comfort, I eventually figured out that "Lottchen" must have been the original on which "Parent Trap" was based, and I thought it was better than the movie.
