My feelings, they're just a biiiiiiiiit mixed upon reading the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who will be honoured a drama about the beginnings of the show . On the one hand: great idea, and I hope for Verity Lambert (first producer, and as a young female producer in the BBC in the early 60s a pioneer in more than one way) as the central character. Mostly I feel like, with Gatiss in charge, we'll be lucky to get more than a token glimpse of Lambert, Derbyshire or any other women. The impression I always get from his TV scripts and novels is that he really doesn't like writing women and would rather not do so.

I haven't read his novels, though londonkds told me horror stories about one of them. Re: women in the tv scripts, well, Gwynneth is prominent in Unquiet Dead, but other than that I see your point. But surely you can't write a DW: The Origin story without making Verity Lambert central?

It does sound like a wonderful idea doing this type of special. Just hope Gatiss doesn't screw it up.

I hope there are other goodies like this as a mixed bag of documentary and Doctor stories would make for a wonderful year of specials...
