WE WILL GET A BLACK WIDOW ORIGINS MOVIE. Yes, yes, yes! Of course, now my next question is how much of Natasha's comicbook origins they'll be able to keep. Starting with the date problem, and I doubt they'll go the "genetically enhanced, hence not aging normally" route of retcon that would allow her to have grown up in the Soviet Union, but if she ( Read more... )

black widow, marvel, the musketeers, dumas

Primeval - dinosaurs etc. come to the present to cause problems, the organisation set up to deal with the problem runs heavily to own goals, stupidly missing the obvious, and "let's split up to find the monsters."

In other words, don't set your hopes too high.

I actually don't think the BW movie is confirmed - that's the only site that mentions it and I don't know where they're getting it from; literally no other sites have picked it up, so I think the author assumed that ScarJo was talking about a movie that WAS happening when she was talking about what she WANTS to happen.

Which sucks, because YOU'RE REALLY GONNA GIVE ME ANT-MAN BEFORE A BW MOVIE, MAVEL? SMDH.

Well, Kevin Feige two weeks ago was very much pro a BW film, and he's the head of production, so I'm hoping we'll get official confirmation from other sources soon.

Because yes - Ant-Man?!?

I hope so as well. Because I have a LOT of angry feelings on the fact that they haven't even TRIED to do a movie about a female superhero yet. And even though they've set Nat up perfectly for one, we may not get one and even if we DO, all of the momentum from her appearances from Iron Man/Avengers will be used up by the time an open date is (I think it will most likely be 2014/2015 if they keep to their 2-per-year schedule). The entire just annoys me SO MUCH, ugh. Sorry for the word vomit /o\

There's other articles too: here's one I linked yesterday in comicstore_news. Of course it could still be cancelled, but it sounds reasonably solid at the moment.

I wonder if the new Musketeers is going to be an update ("Hey, it worked with Sherlock!"). The Beeb's press release calls it a "fresh and contemporary take" on these characters, which could mean anything, but doesn't mention place or time, despite the fact that period frocks are usually a selling point.

The problem with a contemporary take is that it means no sword fighting, which is a big part of why people keep refilming the Musketeers. Also, their actual job is being soldiers (with, um, muskets) in a regiment, never mind stupid Disney and all other recent adaptions ignoring that, which, again, if you adapt it to a contemporary frame means they're not interacting with the heads of goverment or state at all. And of course of the two main intrigues in the novel, the only one immediately adaptable is the assassination of Buckingham, but since France and England aren't at war (never mind the British press) these days, it's a tad hard to justify why this would be of interest to Richelieu.

I love your icon. :) Entirely agree on all of this, being a fan of both sword fights and Richlieu. Still, the wording of that press release is odd, or maybe just sloppy. *eyes the BBC with some suspicion*

The John Cleese correspondence is lovely.

Who is Emily Blunt? (That is a genuine question, I don't know the name.)

She was the first choice to play Black Widow but due to scheduling conflicts with Gulliver's Travels (have you ever heard of that movie?), she was replaced by Scarlett J.

Recently, she said in an interview that she was glad she didn't get the role. (She was also up for Peggy Carter in Captain America, too).

Primeval has the distinction of being the first British show I gave up on before completing a full series. I watched 5 of the 6 episodes, figured there's only 1 left, might as well finish it up but couldn't bring myself to do it.
