Peter Wingfield still gets to play good guys in Canadian TV shows! Most recently (afaik) in the TV show Endgame, albeit with a Russian accent).

He's also a good guy (in as much as the Five are) on Sanctuary. :)

Being similarly annoyed by said typecasting, I've always wondered if there's also an accent barrier, because moving country temporarily, Nikolas Coster-Waldau gets to be leading men, and doesn't appear to have much of an accent, while Mads Mikkelsen, who appears to have more of an accent gets stuck with villains.

Accents undoubtedly are a huge factor. Then again: Antonio Banderas.

re: the James Bond song

Martin missed a chance to remind the Bond producers that there had been two male singers of Bond title songs earlier (or maybe he didn't know/remember?): Tom Jones sung "Thunderball" and Matt Monroe sang "From Russia With Love". Granted, it had been a while for a guy to sing the Bond song, but still Broccoli should have remembered. Anyroad, I'm glad that Paul did sing "Live and Let Die"--it's a song with a great deal of energy and proved to everyone that Paul could still rock!
