I just watched this then switched on the TV to see what was on, only to find that it was John Barrowman doing a song and dance number in a show called Tonight's The Night.
Now I really want to see a musical episode of Torchwood...
I'm beginning to suspect the Slitheen are behind this, or at least involved - the complicated plot with a big financial component seems their sort of deal. They've never been in Torchwood but we saw them in Dr. Who twice and SJA at least 2 or 3 times, maybe it's time for a darker plot.
Much as the Slitheen are into making profit, I just can't see Rusty using all that shiny big budget Starz gave him on them. The Americans would kill him.
Otoh, and speaking of the other shows - what about the Bane and Luke-I-am-your-mother? She's the profit-making type of villain, too.
Though I'm not really serious about it, because much as the 456 were new to the Whoverse in Children of Earth, I think that if there are aliens - which I doubt - they will be new ones.
I don't think it will be aliens, since for an audience who has only begun with Starz version of TORCHWOOD, there's only the barest hint that aliens even exist. Rex doesn't even believe Jack has been to other planets, so a reveal of aliens too late in the narrative might feel like a cheat for new viewers.
Great script by Espenson, but hard to know whether I am enjoying this series overall since it's building quite slowly. But I'm definitely loving Jack and Gwen and to a lesser extent Vera and Esther.
I have thought for a good while now that Gwen is like Rose, if she made Amy's choices. But Eleven has managed to move on from Ten's dependency on people, something which is clearly a lot more difficult for Jack...
Jack's in a different position right now, because as far as he knows he could actually die, and so it makes much sense to me that instead of pushing people away or wandering off, as he did for very understandable reasons after CoE, he wants to get closer and openly admits his need to the one human he still has left. However, even Jack would admit that if Gwen went for his "you and me against the world" idea, what would happen once the Miracle is reversed, and she's mortal again and he immortal? Would he really be willing to live out the rest of her human life with her, or would she have given up her family for a short moment in time
