I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that I've lived in London all my life and have never visited most of those sites (though at one time I drove past Parliament and Westminster Abbey at least once a week). I think it's one of those "being a local and taking it all for granted" things.
Probably - I'm sure there are places in Munich I'm utterly and completely ignorant of. Also like I said - W.A. has this huge entrance fee, which is why I went there the first time I visited London on my own but never since in the next two decades until now. :)
Ah, Koln! (Not sure how to get at umlauts here.) First saw that about 1976 when my sister was living in Bonn, and I was wandering round the Roman museum next door.
I used to have dreams about visiting Westminster Abbey to search for the tomb of Anne Neville, which happily ended after I revisited Westminster Abbey and located the tomb of Anne Neville.
Oh, London *is* a glorious place! People don't understand why I still want to go there after three visits - but London is THE city for me, just as Irene Adler was THE woman to Sherlock Holmes :)
Cologne is so magnificent - that ceiling! I really must get on to planning that long European trip we're planning to use up our long service leave on.
"the rooftops of London, Coo, what a sight!" - I always knew the fact that I'm word perfect in Mary Poppins lyrics would come in useful some day *g*. I think that London's rooftops are some of its most fascinating views and you were right up there with Nelson.
I haven't been to Koln for a very long time but I do remember how magnificent its Cathedral is. Beautiful photos. Many thanks for sharing :)
