Multifandom: In a new interview, Lesley Sharpe (wonderful character actress; if you're a DW fan, you've last seen her in Midnight as Sky Silvestri in a role RTD wrote for her - like Christopher Ecclestone and David Tennant, she had played in previous works of his) reveals she's in a new BBC drama with Christopher Ecclestone and is a Eleven fan, ( Read more... )

About the Sandman rumor, the reason you periodically hear about it is because there was a pitch. Gaiman discussed in an blog post a few months back.

I'm remembering this correctly, it boiled down to, he and the DC execs met with Kripke, who made a pitch for Sandman. They liked him. They liked his pitch. But it wasn't quite right and they're still looking.

There's certainly enough material in American Gods to make for a fascinating series. I really hope that they do right by it.

So do I. I know I asked this before, but whom would you cast?

According to IMDB, Chiwetel Ejiofor (the Operative from Serenity) is also in that show with Sharp and Eccelstone. Count me in.

Ooh, I could see an American Gods series being really good. One of my frustrations with that book is that it's just so packed full of stuff that it feels to me that the plot is overwhelmed; I much prefer Anansi Boys, because though it's obviously much lighter weight and building off of the earlier book's work, because it feels more coherent. But having the huge world and the collection of amazing characters is a definite plus for a TV series. More time to explore. And yes, HBO is definitely the right channel to do it. (One of the things that horrified me most about the Kripke rumors, aside from, you know, Kripke, was the idea of Sandman on network TV, oh my god you would have to cut SO MUCH.) So yeah. *cautiously excited*

Casting my vote now for Callum Keith Rennie as Low-Key.

That's a brilliant idea! He has all the right qualities for the role.

I, err, always wanted Ron Rifkin to play Wednesday...

Honestly, if they cast anyone other than CKR I might cry. He's totally my mental image of the character. And I think Ron Rifkin would be great!

It'd be nice if they could cast someone who's actually mixed race as Shadow. I'd say Jason Momoa would be good, but I think he's pretty darn busy these days.

Oh my god, YES. I find the news about a possible American Gods adaptation pleasing enough, but if that should indeed happen,I might explode with glee!

I think I may have to read Patterns, because I'm exhausted with much of fandom's determination not to see where Ten had legitimate reason to be furious and acting like nothing wrong had been done to provoke his reaction. I'm especially interested in seeing your comparison between that situation and The Silurians, because the only other comparison I've seen was used to make Ten look bad and I feel like the situations were different -- the Brig's decision seems more understandable to me because he actually waited until he had no other option against a still-active threat.
