I, too, have been lamenting the unlikeliness of having the opportunity to see Tennant and Tate as Benedick and Beatrice (though it's hard to imagine that anyone could unseat Thompson and Brannagh as the definitive versions of the pair). I've been comforting myself with the high probability that the show will, like Tennant's Hamlet, be filmed and broadcast later in the year.
And well, Thompson and Branagh are of course sublime and my favourite versions that I've seen (out of various stage incarnations and the film), but I can't see how I'll be able to not love T & T's versions as well...

I think I started to fall for for Donna when the Doctor told her she was in the Tardis, and she said "That's not even a proper word, you're just saying things". The rooftop absolutely put the seal on it. I was amazed when I found out that sections of fandom hadn't loved her, or The Runaway Bride. I'm glad so many of them came round.
I'm eternally torn between Ace and Jo Grant. Not that I don't love many of the others as well, but these two are my favourites in Old Who.
Oh, and the Brig of course, but he's his own category.
The lack of widespread Donna love after The Runaway Bride was a mystery to me, too. I mean, there were some of us, but it wasn't a big fraction. So I'm always a bit snobby when thinking of the late arrivals who didn't recognize her awesomeness until, oh, say, the first two episodes of season 4. :)
I have large gaps in my old Who knowledge, but recently got to Jo and loved her. Ace is still to come, for me.
I do have a theory that the failure of Donna love was disproportionate in online fandom. I thought everybody had loved her until I went online! I've noticed a similar thing with Nina from Being Human.
