Name five series that should have had a musical episode (and how it could have been explained).

1.) Alias. Especially given they had a genuine star of the genre among the cast (Victor Garber), they so should have gone there. Yes, there was one episode where Sydney's alias was a singer, but that just sufficed for measly one and a half songs and is ( Read more... )

ashes to ashes, farscape, alias, tng, life on mars, star trek, babylon 5

LOL! I'm going to see Wicked again next month, and now I won't be able to hear "A Sentimental Man" without thinking of Sloane - it really is perfect.

You know, I'm actually surprised Farscape didn't do a musical episode. I mean, it's not like they didn't try every other crackified idea under the sun, including the aforementioned animated episode. If they can find an excuse for Crais in red heels and Aeryn playing Jessica Rabbit, they could certainly have pulled this off!

But because it is a Q story, the final challenge has to involve a solo from Picard.

Suddenly I'm reminded of that great DVD outtake of Stewart (in full Starfleet uniform) on the bridge of the D, starting out in character, but suddenly breaking out into song and dance with his baton and hat. :) Riker was clearly wrong in "Allegiance" when he said it was hard to believe Picard had a good singing voice. ;)

Precisely. Why, Kemper and O'Bannon? Why?

Naturally. :) But of course Picard didn't set him right out of fear he'd get roped into amateur productions on the Enterprise otherwise...

Well, there's hope for Ashes to Ashes yet - although I'm not holding my breath. :) And yes, Alias! The Musical would have been wonderful. And the song would be perfect for Sloane.

gentilhomme suggested it ages ago before I ever saw Wicked, but once I had listened to it, I could never get the connection out of my head.:)

Man, that would have improved "Deconstruction of Falling Stars" no end. :)

And I remember hearing that they'd actually been thinking about doing a Farsape musical when Buffy beat them to it. :)

Wouldn't it just? And he, that would explain why this one the tone wild thing Farscape didn't do...

We already know from Knives that Vir and Londo can sing beautifully together. Now imagine a Londo and G'Kar duet! Vir and Lennier singing the Song Of Long-Suffering Aides!

There is still a chance for AtA, I suppose, but Alias has to remain in one's imagination. Though wait, I think yahtzee63 wrote Mamma Mia as an Alias musical, so you can at least read it.:)
