The year's ten best things in fannish source

Ah, fannish memes. Who can resist them? Not me. Here's my pick. Some spoilers for the fandoms in question, inevitably.

1) Battlestar Galactica: Caprica Six, aka the original Six from the miniseries, wakes up after downloading... and finds out she has a Baltar in her head. Best BSG mindfuck moment ever, still.

2) Das Leben der Anderen (which I ( Read more... )

Scott gets into Emma's mind in quite a different way and demonstrates just what two women (and their clones) see in him.

And all this time I thought it was those abs in spandex. . .

Great list!

Blame Marsden for making me imagine Scott as pretty but not that much abs-equipped.*g*

*cough*

Pictures on my hard drive. You might be surprised.

/*cough*

And I spare you the digression regarding Jackman's abs as an optical illusion. Because it's not like I have a problem with those either. Anyway, I'm just as glad the movie folk decided to go with the leather look instead of spandex -- having just seen some unfortunate pictures of the cast for the new Fantastic Four movie.

But, anyway, some of the panels on the Cassaday designed uniforms make it hard to mistake. On the other hand, you could argue that Emma fell for him back in the Morrison leather jacket days, so she didn't really KNOW about his abs. Unless she discovered them psychically.

And goodness. It's almost as though we have stumbled onto a subject that I can ramble about indefinitely. So I stop now.

Also, we get a shower scene with both characters in the shower

When you phrase it like that with *those* grammatical antecedents, it sounds like Bond and M were in the shower together.

Which is a cruel mislead. *ponders* "With the two leading characters in the shower"?

Simply writing "a shower scene with two characters" leaves it unspecified.

That moment in POTCDMC -- "Pirate." I just rewatched the movie with amblypygid - I think half of fandom got that dvd for christmas, I swear -- anyway --

What I love is that I am 90% certain that he had been going to stay on the ship anyway. So Sparrow loses nothing; and he gets to see the woman he admires become everything he hopes her to be. While she spends the next five minutes of the film wallowing in secret, soul-choaking guilt that she killed one of the men she loves.

Yes, I do best like my favorite characters unhappy; why do you ask?

Oh, I'm with you there. *g*

I'm 90% sure as well (why come back to the Pearl, otherwise?), though that doesn't take a bit from Elizabeth's responsibility. And thus they see both their predictions about each other come true. *loves*

Excellent 10 points. My favorites are Caprica Six's Baltar mindfuck and Donna asking the Doctor is his friend had punched him in the nose before she left.

It was a good year, fandom wise. And none of my shows got cancelled. *glares in the general direction of Fox tv for Fireflay and SciFi for Farscape*
