Beautiful Bamberg! How nice to be reminded of our trip there and I would definitely recommend it. Nuremberg was completely different but very interesting and had good transportation to other places.
I have umpteen photos from our Rhine cruise which I still haven't managed to sort out properly, which given the amount of time I have to spare is very remiss of me. It was a lovely and stress free way to see the beauties of that part of Germany. Our trip included a visit to Heidelberg, which we were lucky enough to get to early in the morning so were able to appreciate it before it started heaving with tourists :)
I'll make it to some more of the places on your list when we can all travel again :)
