When Fox News Presenters have more integrity than the entire GOP leadership

Oct 26, 2016 07:08

Broadly speaking, and watching from abroad which means I might have missed a lot, I'm tempted to guess the only Republicans coming out of this election year with their reputations enhanced instead of damaged are, of all the people, the ex presidents Bush (for at no point endorsing Drumpf)...and Megyn Kelly, Fox News Presenter. Or we could just ( Read more... )

We're calling him Drumpf now? I missed one.

To be honest I've been paying attention to the presidential election as little as possible because it irritates me. I would like to look into the third party candidates just to see if there's anyone worth voting for, now that I'm confident my state will go blue (Minnesota is technically a swing state - our previous governor was a Republican - but we've never gone red for the presidential election in my day).

I have a feeling I'm going to end up voting Clinton, though.

Of course, as a friend of mind pointed out, even if (make that WHEN) the United States sends Trump packing on election day, he has still encouraged and legitimized lots of really nasty hate. That won't disappear with him.

Drumf was the family name before they emigrated from Germany. Germany was lucky...

Here's the scariest thing about the next election. Trump might back off politics if defeated (let's pray), but his followers are not going anywhere, and now they're all stirred up and feel legitimized, when for years they'd known they needed to hide their racism, misogyny, and jingoism. The next candidate who wants to use that base might not be as wild and crazy as Trump, and therefore might be electable.

The only hope is that they won't like him if he's not a flaming idiot, who "speaks for them."

Sorry, hadn't seen the post above! We agree.

Yes, that poison won't go away. I'm not excluding violence on the streets, either. But at least he won't be able to start WWIII because someone remarked on the size of his hands, meagre consolation that this is.

There's Ana Navarro too! Who has been consistently criticizing him, what with the sexual assault and the racism.

(And on the Bush front, BARBARA has been outspokenly disgusted too. Which is...I mean, probably because of her legacy of quaint propriety, but it's weird when that ends up sounding boldly feminist.)

First, I really thought he was going to win, as the culmination of this spiral the US is going down. But now it's sort of looking like he won't win...which means this spiral is going to continue, with a new ferocity propelled by him. I wonder how badly it's going to go when the country finally goes all in on these increasing temptations.

I'm afraid we'll all find out just how badly, but hope we won't, still.
