I'm writing about ladies in The Borgias as part of my next book project and I'm definitely curious about the perceived fanservice going on in Season 3. Clearly I need to have a look at some of the publicity and so forth to see exactly how they're framing all that ridiculous Cesare/Lucrezia nonsense, since, as you say, it seems pretty clear that Neil Jordan wasn't interested in the incest angle.

I remember occasionally checking out the Lucrezia_Cesare community on lj, since it was the only one talking about The Borgias at all, and they were gleeful about it happening but disgruntled with Neil Jordan's previous "no incest" utterings and suspicious silence when it actually happened; it also didn't escape their notice Jordan didn't write any of the first half of s3 episodes where Cesare and Lucrezia had their incest scenes (Jon Amiel and Kari Scogland did).
