It's good to include Baze, because the friendship depicted added much gravitas to his end. I remember seeing Greedo get killed and thinking, "Wow, Han's somebody to watch out for!" In such a short scene, we didn't get to know Greedo nearly as well as any of the other characters, like Tarkin or those unfortunate victims of the force-choke. Those seemed mostly for comic effect, it seemed to me at the time.
