when discussing "STAR WARS: EPISODE V - THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK", many fans tend to ignore or make excuses for the questionable actions of the major characters in that film.
Empire is the favorite film of the franchise for so many. Upon first viewing it upon release, the 'darker and edgier' quality appeared right away to me in that the equal partners vibe between Chewbacca and Solo seemed downgraded. All right, upon retrospect, Solo was hankering to get away from Bespin and the base was in danger, blahblah, but hollering to his partner to 'just do it!' hit a wrong note. I did enjoy the film (and being justified by seeing that Solo 'got the girl', so to speak, per my prediction) yet everyone's new toughness came out sour. I didn't make excuses at initial viewing for any characters and considered them neatly and realistically ambiguous.
