Such a great review! I love what you said about Bathseba's character.
Like you, I was wary of Hardy for quite a while, but I'm so glad I discovered FFtMC, it's one of my favourite 19th century classics now. In no small thanks to the great characters of both Bathseba and Gabriel. Are you also going to watch the 2015 adaptation? It's quite good as well, imo. Yes, I've seen the 2015 version. In fact, I went out and purchased a DVD copy of the movie. Next on my to-watch list is the 1967 version.
