So much for the SI...

Well, I didn't get to test-drive the Civic SI today. I have never met such pretentious sales staff. Ridiculous. Annoying sales people, (relatively) bad warranty, unproven record... I had trouble justifying the SI, given the situation ( Read more... )

that is a beautiful car, and I love it - one thought - isn't this the last year they're producing it? Not sure if that'll affect parts availability in the future.

I had a dead battery when we got back yesterday. John put in a new one. My damn car thinks it's Christmas and it wants presents. Just got new rotors and pads for the front brakes last week. ugh.

Yeah, apparently, Acura is moving "upstream" in the market... I was sorry to see it go.

As far as parts availabillity, I don't plan on keeping the car for more than five years, so I can't imagine that would be a problem. The whole thing will be covered by warranty, anyway.

How old is your Mazda? Why does she want all this attention, all of a sudden?

I have always loved the RSX, even though, technically, I haven't ever driven one. The only complaint I've ever heard was from the Car-talk guys, who basically said it was fantastic and wonderful, as long as you always want to feel like you're driving a race car, and most people don't.

Wait, they're not making the RSX any more? Nooooooooo! Well, no-ish. I mean, The RSX was great even if it meant the loss of the Integra. What are they replacing it with?

You're right about the race-car thing. It's true about the RSX. The RSX-S, doubly so. I'm going to become desensitized to adrenaline after buying that car. I drove it for ten minutes, and my knees went wobbly. It's 80% of the Porsche Boxster, in that respect, for <50% of the cost.

What're they replacing it with? The word is, they're not. Acrua is moving "up-market," and getting rid of its sub-$40k line. The SI and Civic type R (possibly coming to the US next year or so?) are taking up the slack. As I understand it, Acura is now less of an experimental platform for Honda and is attempting to become more of a luxury brand.
