hey all, I created a community today called dallasparties. It's basically a place people can promote parties and events and where you can post pictures from nights out. Any suggestions are welcome, this is my first community. Please join and pass the word on! The more people that know about it the better it will be.

I can help ya with it. I love to do this stuff. I'll get a list of communities for you to sign up and promote in. Also, sign up with mod_squad. They are there for ideas, to help promote etc. They are a new community, but I am sure that there will be some good community ideas posted.

are you using a program for LJ? or just the web interface?

At the bottom of the web interface you'll see this: "You're looking at the simple page. For more options, click here." After you click there you'll see a pull down menu for which journal you want to post. It should list your journal and your communities.
