Just realized I wrote this a couple of weeks ago and never posted it here

Title: That Mormon Bitch Your Son Married
Pairing: Stan/Kyle, OMC/OFC
Rating: PG
Summary: Stan and Kyle are old grandpas. Like, literally.
Notes: This was written following "#REHASH," and was inspired by the kindergartners making fun of Stan and Kyle.

Very "day in the life" (literally), very cute. I think my favorite part was the time capsule-esque nostalgia of the grandkids rifling through the old stuff in Stan's office. Like, the contrast of old objects, e.g. the sword, the doll vs. the intangible permanence of the memories they hold. (Using my shitty retro Stan icon for this very reason.)

It's interesting, seeing Stan and Kyle remember their childhoods amidst their grandkids, who totally don't get it. Plus, this tied in beautifully with elf Kyle + warrior Stan LARPing (omg, do they ever own up to calling it what it is in the canon?!), which was reincorporated very sweetly at the end.

Other things I enjoyed:

That Kyle wrote a book about gay parenting
"I was this, like, imperious elf queen."
This sentence, because it is crafty (utilizing the actual sense of word, then the metaphoric sense): "Though it was only in his 30s that Kyle became nearsighted, years later he is able to conjure the clarity at 5 in the morning to realize that he was always sort of myopic."

When I was writing this I was trying to do it quickly and efficiently so the idea didn't burn out, but I was surprised that people liked the rifling through Stan's office aspect because it feels like a somewhat pat way to like, bring the show closer to the fic? I do really like this retro Stan icon, though, it's cute in a sloppy way that I fully appreciate. I don't think they ever cal it LARPing in the game, or even in any of the other episodes in which they are clearly LARPing but it is, so what, sew buttons. Have you played the game? It actually is really cute and really playable, and not without its flaws but great for all the characters and Stan/Kyle as well. Anyway, this fic did get some positive feedback on AO3, where I posted it -- I have no idea where to put things anymore, like, this was short enough to just cross-post on LJ, but I'm in the midst of a chapter fic now that I am just going to post a link to when it's all posted. I'm also posting it on FFN and I have gotten no comments on there for three chapters. This sounds ( ... )
