Title: You Only Live Twice
Pairing: Token/Stan, Cartman/Kyle
Summary: In his third year at Oxford, 1966-1967, Stanley’s life is at a crossroads. The boy he likes is seeing someone else, his tutor hates his work, and homosexuality is illegal in Britain. Yet a posh, handsome classmate has taken an interest in him; could this be the year Stanley figures out the direction he’s meant to head in?

This is a long-delayed gift for julads, who is honestly and without a doubt the most unfairly overlooked writer of SP fanfic. Her writing is of the highest quality and she weaves narratives with grace, confidence, and ease. She’s also the master of AU fics, and I most want to recommend Alla Breve and Swarm & Handle. I bring these two fics together to rec here because they are so opposite each other in terms of setting and style, but when looking at both of them together, it’s possible to see what an unparalleled talent Julads harbors at writing generally and AU as a genre. One is set in a dystopian future of her own invention; the other in early twentieth-century America. Both are evidence of a huge amount of talent and a fine-tuned sensibility that is perfectly matched to slash fiction and Stan/Kyle in particular.
I hope that, in this offering, I’ve been able to invent something that is worth of her enormous contribution to the SP fandom. Her writing is extremely dear to me and I sincerely hope if you’ve not had a chance to check out her work, you’ll stop to do so before reading this.
Unlike a lot of my dumb fics, this one is totally finished. Check back later this week for an update.
