Had the same problem with "Johnathon Strange...", just couldn't get past the dreary Victorian over polite society nonsense. It begs the question why all that boring stuff in the beginning is necessary once the eponymous character of Mr. Norrell (aka life of the party) shows up.

Nope, haven't read a word past some chapter I can't even remember from about that much time as well, but I just know Mr. Norrell sure didn't show up yet. Something about a girl being brought back to life. And fairies.

It does get better-- Once Mr. Norrell showed up, I promoted it from my bathroom magazine rack to my bedside table. Totally worth it!

MMA manga! Is there anything I don't love about you?!

I don't really watch UFC but I know way too much about it, and portrayals of MMA in popular culture totally fascinate me for some reason. Gonna reeead!

Add stars for 1. A satisfying coming-of-age Naruto/Sasuke "divergent paths" rivalry/mutual respect! 2. Good looking art, lean appealingly drawn young men 2. AND WOMEN! 3. Who talk to each other! 4. About something other than a man! 5. seamlessly incorporated expository dialogues on fight mechanics that even a layman can understand

How many shonen manga pass the Bechdel test ever?!?

Added bonus because #1 means that whenever I catch up in the scanslations and am forced to wait around, I can spend time thinking about slashy associations.

I don't watch UFC either, but since the double whammy of Meguru plus Genki Sudo, I've been spending way more time on Youtube / Sherdog.com forums than I have any right to, haha... now I'm moving on to watching women's MMA which is even more thrilling.

Genki is just HOT HOT HOT for multiple reasons - slick robot dance moves, the badass unconventional MMA fighting, the uberBuddhist "we are all one" pacifism, excellent use of auto-tune... and then he also looks very good in dreads and very small shorts. He also does all of this without coming off as a jerk or full of himself. He is the gift that KEEPS ON GIVING. VOTE GENKI 2012.
