Gwendal keeps hold of Anissina's hand, feeling for some reason stronger and more confident with her at his side. He raises his free hand and knocks firmly upon the door.
He looks down at Anissina, his hair shadowing his eyes and obscuring his vision. "Perhaps I should have sent a post instead."
Anissina tisked at him as he seemed to reconsider his decision.
"No, you shouldn't ... He's your little brother and he's home safe and sound and you need to tell him that you missed him and are glad to see him home or whatever it is that you two talk about when you're together."
She pushed back her ponytail as she smiled, trying to reassure him. She let her thumb rub back and forth over the arch of his hand. She could understand his nerves but thought that they were completely unnecessary. At the end of the day, they were brothers and loved each other and that was it! No nerves!
He looked down at the woman at his side and offered a small smile for her encouragement. He was very glad they were taking this day off together. Now, if only his brother would answer the door so he could be off with her!
"Well he's certainly taking long enough to answer the door," Gwendal complained, a frown marring the area between his eyes in his annoyance.
"Patience is a virtue, Gwendal." she chided. "We'll be on our way soon enough. We could always cancel and go another day. If you want to spend the day with your brother..." Anissina left the option open again, just in case.
"It is a patience I do not possess," Gwendal answers.
Abruptly he turns on his heel, dragging Anissina with him. "Let us commence this fishing trip. If he had wanted to see me he'd have come to me last night when he arrived."

From the alcove, Lawrence watched in silence as the pair left. He had only heard the tail end of the exchange, but it did not sit well with him. It was 8 in the morning. Where else would the Captain be if not attending to his duties to the men?
The young man sighed and adjusted his glasses before setting back out on his patrol. The Captain would not be at all happy to hear his elder brother's sentiments--not at all.
