I've decided not to renew the rental of my community garden plot next year. I've had that same plot for... how long?? I think it was between 2002 and 2004 when I first signed on. So it's been a very long time now. It started out as my sanctuary, and I truly loved learning about nature, and growing things, and how to enjoy getting my hands dirty ( Read more... )

I hadn't thought of putting the plants up on something like CraigsList. The only problem would be that every time someone came I would have to meet them there, let them in and wait for them, and it would be limited to weekends, since the gardens are only open until dusk, and a few are pretty large. Still, it's something to consider. Thanks for the idea!

After thinking about this a bit, I've decided that once I've removed everything I KNOW I want to keep or give to someone specific, I will remove the lock on my gate and put up a sign inviting the other gardeners to take anything they want ASAP before I remove it. The space has to be entirely cleared by the end of December, so it's move it or lose it.
