Alternate Science

Alternate universes are known for their differences from this universe, if this happened instead of that. Examples: Hitler getting into Art School, etc. But I keep thinking about alternate universes where the scientific constants are different than ours. The universal Gravitational Constant, the charge of an electron, the speed of light ( Read more... )

it'd be so simple if our lives can be plotted as straight lines stretching into infinity

sadly, if these constants differed by an infinitesimal amount, life wouldnt exist, stars or planets would exist, ect. Like the universal grav constant..any smaller and large bodies wouldn't form. A bit stronger and everything would be stars and such, ie no planets. Charge on the electron...well a real physicist can explain much better than I, but suffice to say that atoms wouldn't be forming.

MAYBE one thing you can do is have time running in reverse, or maybe talk about something we don't know enough about, like have quantum effects also happen on a macro-scale.
