Blocked from Hunter and Yui. Not England, though. She forgot to do that.

This is a strange question, and mayhap it is a rather irrelevant one, however...

How does one go...about instructing another in music?

yui why so cute, wait what music?!, confusion is go

What's with the sudden interest?

A friend had asked me for assistance in lessons...but I have no means in which to go about it.

I have never taught anyone anything before.

It really depends on how much you know. If you feel confident about it, then do it.

I...suppose you are right.

[Though Teta's underconfident with music to the extreme. She's not some crazy music prodigy--she knows a little piano and most of the singing she does is by ear!]

It does no good to fret; all one can do is simply perform the task at hand.

Being a music teacher, you mean? Oh, it's not so difficult--what are you teaching?--I mean, I can play the guitar for a bit--

Ah...W-well, the Lady Yui had asked of me to assist her with singing lessons. I am...unsure as of how to go about this.

Oh, Yui? I didn't know she sang, as well. Quite a talented young girl. I suppose there are the proper warm-ups and all that rot.

Yes, she truly is!

Ah...proper warm-ups?

Wouldn't think that'd be hard if you were a musician yourself.

[Teta flails at this. She's hardly a musician! Well, she sort of is now, but that was only recently and she's never sung in front of anyone besides the churchgoers and well...herself prior to Yui! On top of that, she doesn't know the first thing about teaching!

Though she is right...it shouldn't be too hard.]

I-I suppose you are right...It is...

I suppose it is that I have never done it before that is the worry. I am sorry. I suppose it is a silly worry...

Hey, don't apologize. It makes sense to get nervous on your first time for anything.

This is true. Still, I shouldst not worry so much, I think.

Hmm, my voice coach always told me to do different exercise to strengthen my voice.

Exercises...? What form of them?

...

Ah...you are a...'vocalist', as well?

[She remembered that term! She almost said 'minstrel' again.]

Well like I had to practice the scales every day, going up and down and in different keys. And singing while doing jumping jacks to practice for shows!

I used to be but I quit showbiz.

Singing whilst undergoing strenuous physical activity is a form of practice? I have not heard of anything like it.

[She sounds a bit worried...more worried for Rise's sake, really, than her own. She had to DO all that? Didn't that...didn't that hurt her lungs? Singing can sometimes take a lot out of you as it is, but moving and singing took up a lot of air...]

Does that not...Does that not make you winded?

...?

I...I see. I am sorry.

Music? Do you mean playing an instrument?

Reply

sekaiwayasashii December 4 2009, 22:29:35 UTC
Not an instrument, no. I am wondering the proper means in which to instruct another on how to sing.

Oh. I don't know, I've never taught anyone how to sing... Can you sing, Teta? Who do you want to teach?

[Yes, awkwardness and shyness is go.]

I can...a little. Lady Yui acted quite strange when I sang for her, however...

She had called me 'master' and had thus requested me to train her.
