Interesting thoughts. I certainly agree that "should" is the bigger question than "can."

I tend to question the real autonomy of human volition in the first place, given the vast sea of factors that we cannot begin to control. We certainly have a degree of decision, but ultimately the options are severely limited by outside conditions.
