I don't know why it hasn't occurred to me to ask you before. I know I asked my f-list once, but I think that was before you were back on LJ. So here goes:
If I wanted to learn more about Greek and Roman mythology, and I wanted a better understanding of it than I've gotten from learning their associations and a few of their stories, and I'm not afraid of secondary sources but I don't want to read long-winded and spiritually meaningless academic discourse, nor do I want to read largely invented and highly personal "new age" books- do you have any recommendations?
The only ones I can remember came from Ri and Cat, who suggested "The Golden Ass" of Apuleius and Bullfinch's Mythology.
