I have finished Zeta Gundam.

...ow. Ow ow ow ow ow. That was sad and painful, though brilliant. It was worth watching even so, though barely - and the fact that I know this isn't the end helps. I don't know how anyone could stand this when it first came out, and there wasn't yet any more Gundam after it

Is Zeta Gundam a standalone show? Not a sequel?

It's a sequel to the original, and will spoil the end of the original but good. I watched it anyway, 'cause I've seen most of the original, and knew the ending already.
