This is the last shot I wrote for the fic-gifting meme.  Anyway, to all of you who are familiar with my Flatmates Universe, I have a question.  Some shots feature the character that’s based on Jae as truly female-dresses and such.  Would you like me to skip those, or keep posting, with the consequence of having it a bit strange?

Since the posts are separate, it doesn’t matter if I just skip those shots.  If there are things that need to be told, I will mention it at the start of the next shot.  So it’s up to you

I Gave You My Heart

Yunho sat on the couch, hand grasping a picture, printed on glossy paper.  The edges were starting to brown, and there were scribbles on the back of it.  A picture of him and his ex-girlfriend, who left him for another man the day after he had proposed to her, without her giving him the answer yet.

He guessed, her leaving was answer enough.

Last Christmas I gave you my heart, but the very next day you gave it away

“Jae, for the sake of… stop singing that darned song!” Yunho barked unhappily at the singing and glowing man who was currently in the kitchen, walking around like a tornado, hands covered in mittens and body covered by an apron.  It was Christmas Eve, and he was the most excited about it, preparing homemade cookies and fresh milk for “Santa”.

“Aw, what’s wrong?” Jaejoong asked, giggling slightly as he covered his mouth with his glove-clad hand, and Yunho silently wondered if he was high on sugar.  “It’s Christmas tomorrow and you’re brooding!  That’s not a good sign!”

Yunho rolled his eyes, and went back to angsting over what happened just last year.  Why couldn’t he saw it coming?  Maybe then he wouldn’t have to be so heart-broken over the whole thing.

“Boo,” Jaejoong whispered in his ear, and he jumped up in surprise.  When did he get there?

“Ah, so this is the girl you have been talking about?” Jaejoong asked as he snatched the picture away and quickly retreated back to the kitchen, ignoring Yunho’s attempts to claim it back.  “What’s so good about her?  She’s not even pretty.”

“Shut up,” Yunho walked over to the kitchen and roughly snatched the picture back, nearly ripping it in two with such force.  “You won’t know.”

“Oh, won’t I?”Jaejoong asked, and grabbed the handle of the oven, opening it once the timer beeped.  Carefully taking out the tray of chocolate chip cookies, he placed it on the counter, and closed the oven.  “Don’t state what you’re not sure of.”

Yunho stopped in his tracks.  He paused, and looked back at Jaejoong.  It was an ambiguous statement, but somehow, he felt a twinge of pain in his chest when he heard him say that.

Why?

“You were left by someone?” Yunho asked, and decided to consider that pain as sympathy.  After all, they were in the same shoes.

“No, I just adored someone who is too dense to notice it,” Jaejoong shrugged, and took a piece, biting into it.  “Want to try some?” he offered.

“Sure,” Yunho agreed, and walked back towards Jaejoong, taking the offered piece in his mouth, and chewing on it slowly.  “It’s… nice.”

“As nice as I am?” Jaejoong asked teasingly, a wide grin gracing his features.

“No, you’re nicer,” Yunho answered back just as teasingly, a small smile starting to form on his lips.  Somehow, whenever he was with Jaejoong, he could forget about everything, and just concentrate on the moment.

“Why, thank you,” Jaejoong smiled, and took another bite.  “But that means I’ll have to try harder to bake better cookies.”

“They won’t be as nice as you,” Yunho shook his head, holding onto Jaejoong’s wrist, preventing him from taking another bowl to mix the dough.  “Ever.”

Jaejoong raised an eyebrow at him.  “Are you flirting with me?”

Yunho looked appalled, and Jaejoong was about to laugh at his expression.  But then, his expression softened and he nodded.  “Yes I am.”

“Yun-“

“I think… I think I like you,” Yunho admitted slowly, still looking a little unsure.  “A little… or a lot.  I don’t know.”

“That’s okay,” Jaejoong said as he smiled, holding onto Yunho’s hand that was grasping his wrist.  “That’s a progress.”

“You know, a part of me wishes I’m that dense person, and the other part wishes I’m not,” Yunho laughed, and rested his forehead on Jaejoong’s.  “Jae, can you grant me a wish?”

“Name it.”

“Sing the next part of that darned song.”

Jaejoong could only smile.

This year to save me from tears I’ll give it to someone special
