Summary: the birth of Jin Young didn’t go well, but none of them was prepared to let him go

A/N: written based on a true story taken from a blog:
http://renunganindonesia.blogspot.com This happens before the birth of Jin Young and Ha Young, and Ji Yul is still 3 (the age difference of each child is 3 years :D)
I Love You
“Umma, I want to sing for Jin Young-ah!” Ji Yul exclaimed as she reached out her chubby hands to hug Jaejoong’s belly, which was already so big since it was his last month of pregnancy. It was predicted that he would give birth within three to four days.
Jaejoong chuckled and stroked Ji Yul’s hair lovingly, watching her cuddle his belly. “Go on then, Ji Yul-ah. Make your dongsaeng happy with your lovely voice.”
Ji Yul giggled and hugged his belly even tighter. She then began to sing an almost childish song that she sung to him everyday, without fail-and almost driving Yunho insane with the tune. The only thing that kept his sanity intact was his love for his children, and the knowledge that it was true.
“I love you, you love me
We’re a happy family
With a great big hug
And a kiss from me to you
Won’t you say you love me too?”
Yunho heard Ji Yul singing and smiled as he walked towards them, sitting on the other side of Jaejoong. “Are you confessing your undying love to your dongsaeng again?” he teased as he pinched Ji Yul’s cheek.
Ji Yul stuck her tongue out at Yunho. “I love him just like I love Appa and Umma. I don’t want to be cared all my life. I want to take care of him.”
Yunho caressed her cheek lovingly. “You’re still a little kid, Ji Yul-ah.”
“But I can still take care of him,” Ji Yul insisted. “I will be the best sister ever.”
Jaejoong looked at Ji Yul, then at Yunho, and smiled. He looked back at Ji Yul, and kissed her forehead. “We know you will,” he said softly. “Why don’t we tell Jin Young how much we love him, again?”
Ji Yul beamed at the suggestion, and the three of them together sang the song while hugging Jaejoong’s belly.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
The next day, Jaejoong was brought to the hospital because the contraction had started earlier than expected, and it was already at the fifth one when Jaejoong realized it was the contraction-he thought he was having cramps during the earlier ones. Ji Yul insisted on coming with them, and her teacher gave her the permission to visit the hospital, so Yunho took her along after he took Jaejoong to the hospital.
When they reached the hospital, the caesar operation to take the baby out was in process and they waited in the waiting room for the doctors to come out and tell them that the baby has been born.
In about half an hour, they came out with the news that the baby has been born, but there was another thing that they didn’t expect. The baby was born with a very weak heart and respiratory system. Unless his heart and lungs could function properly in two hours, he will die.
Yunho rushed inside to find Jaejoong crying while hugging Jin Young close to his chest, and Ji Yul rushed in as well, jumping up the bed to look at the small baby.
“Why, Yunho-yah?” Jaejoong sobbed, staring at the calm face of Jin Young. “He won’t cry. He has to cry so that his lungs could be cleared of the mucus.”
Yunho pulled Jaejoong to a hug, stroking his back and mumbling comforting words to him. “He will survive. Our son is a strong fighter. He will survive.”
Ji Yul herself couldn’t hold her tears in. She had been waiting for this moment. She had been waiting for nine months, and she definitely wasn’t going to let her wait go to waste!
With tears running down her cheek, she reached forward to hug both Jaejoong and Jin Young, then stared down at him. “Don’t you love us, Jin Young-ah? Why do you want to leave us so soon?”
Yunho felt his own heart breaking at the sight of the loves of his life crying their eyes out, and one lying motionless, his breath slow yet uneven.
It was then that Ji Yul wiped her tears with her hand. She forced herself to smile and hoped her voice wouldn’t crack. “I love you...” she started. “You love me... we’re a happy family...”
Jaejoong stared at Ji Yul, and knew what she wanted, so he joined in, hugging Jin Young even tighter. “With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you...”
“Won’t you say you love me too?” Yunho joined in at the last bit, and they sang the song over and over again, just like they used to when Jin Young was still inside Jaejoong’s belly.
The doctor in charge of Jaejoong came in to see them, and she couldn’t help herself. She cried as well, seeing how loving the family was. Even when the doctors all said there was no hope, they wouldn’t let go of their own blood without a fight.
She was about to call them, but then her eyes widened in surprise. A deafening cry filled the room.
“Umma!” Ji Yul screamed in excitement. “Jin Young is crying! Jin Young is crying!”
The baby cried out loud, occasionally opening his eyes to stare at the faces of those who love him dearly. After all the mucus was out of his lungs, he went to sleep peacefully, his breath now even, and his heart rate normal.
“Congratulations, Jung-shii,” the doctor said as she handed Jin Young back to Jaejoong after she helped clean up the mucus in his lungs. “You’ve got yourself a healthy baby boy.”
Jaejoong thanked the doctor profusely, and then hugged Ji Yul and Jin Young tight.
“You’re right, Ji Yul-ah. You are the best sister ever. And you, Jin Young, thank you for loving us too.”
