Hope you enjoy, anyway.

Freezes

Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu, Yunho, and Changmin were all sitting in a table, staring at the huge glass bowls placed in front of each of them and gulping slightly as they watched the syrup flow down from the top of the ice mountain to the base where fruit slices and others were piled up.

“We are supposed to eat this up?” Junsu asked, poking the mountain with his spoon hesitantly, afraid it would suddenly crumble and make a mess on the table.

“Why are we here again?” Jaejoong sighed, leaning forward as he poked the top of the mountain, and spread the syrup and milk from the top to the base.

“Because we’re challenged by those maniacs to eat this all up in less than half an hour,” Changmin said, pointing at Donghae, Hyukjae, and Joongwoon who sat across them and were waving at them happily.

“I seriously hate you,” Jaejoong glared at Joongwoon.

“You’ve said that too many times to me, Jae,” Joongwoon shook his head and shrugged in nonchalance.  “When do you want to start?”

“Right now?” Donghae asked.

“Alright then, start!” Hyukjae shouted, and switched the stopwatch on.

The three then chatted animatedly as they waited for the boys to finish eating their share.  What was the prize for the challenge, you ask?  It was free lunch for a month for all of them, but only if all of them finished.

Hyukjae looked over at them, and noticed that Yoochun and Changmin had finished.  Junsu was nearly finished, as well as Yunho.  As for Jaejoong…

“Jae?” Yunho called as he looked over at the boy who had his head on the table, sighing softly.  “You…”

Joongwoon walked over to him.  “Hey, something wrong?” he asked worriedly.

“No… I’m just… just…”

“Having a brain freeze,” Yunho offered and Jaejoong nodded weakly.  “He’s a little weak towards brain freezes.”

“Shut up,” Jaejoong grunted when he heard Joongwoon had started laughing.  He reached out to eat his share again, but a hand stopped him.

“Don’t,” Yunho shook his head.  “Brain freezes hurt, don’t they?  Don’t force yourself.  It’s not worth it,” he stated.

Joongwoon ‘aww’ed in the background and Jaejoong was having a hard time trying to ignore him and pretending he wasn’t there.

“Don’t force yourself, hyung,” Junsu shook his head as he sided with Yunho.  “It’s not worth it if you’re suffering in the process.”

Donghae, Hyukjae and Joongwoon looked at each other, and nodded.  “Okay then, we’ll make an exception.  Any of you can help Jaejoong finish his share, but only one of you may.”

“I’ll do it,” Yunho said as he reached over for Jaejoong’s bowl.  “How much time do I have?”

“Ten minutes,” Donghae answered as he looked at his watch.  “Take your time.  I’ll notify it when it’s five minutes away.”

Yoochun, Junsu, and Changmin cheered as they watched Yunho eat the ice, and Jaejoong was still trying to get rid of the pounding headache.  He managed to finish it in eight minutes, and the next day, he was down with a fever.

“I thought someone here told me not to force myself,” Jaejoong glared at Yunho who was lying on his bed, chuckling uneasily as he tried to cover his face with his pillow.

“Aw, Boo, I’m sorry,” he mumbled, rolling around in his bed.

“Yah, don’t do that!” Jaejoong sighed, and forced Yunho to stay put.  “I’ll get something warm for you to eat.  Stay here and don’t do anything,” he warned as he placed a cool damp cloth on Yunho’s forehead, and walked out.

“Yunho-hyung,” Junsu said as he snuck in after Jaejoong had exited.  “Here’s your order, a bubble gum-flavored popsicle.”

“Ah, thank you!” Yunho exclaimed happily as he sat up in his bed and took the cold treat from Junsu’s hand.  He had just finished peeling the wrap off and was about to pop it into his mouth, when…

“JUNG YUNHO!”

“Aaah~  I’m sorry!  Please forgive me!”

Ever since that day, Jaejoong would never consume anything cold when Yunho was around, and never leave Yunho alone when he was sick.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Jaejoong stared at the monitor in front of him blankly.

“Umma?” Changmin called softly as he peeked in from the doorsill.  “Did something happen?”

“No,” Jaejoong frowned suddenly.  “Nothing’s happening, and that’s what is wrong,” he added huffily, nearly banging the desk with his fist.

“Eh?  What do you mean?” Changmin asked curiously as he walked over, and saw that the computer had frozen.  “Ah, I get what you mean now.”

“What do I do now?” Jaejoong sighed in defeat, slumping in his chair.  “I’ve just started this one program, and somehow the whole computer froze.”

“What kind of program?” Changmin pushed Jaejoong’s chair to the side, and took another to sit on.  He forced the computer to reboot, and looked at Jaejoong again.

“I don’t know,” Jaejoong shrugged.  “There was this window, and it said something about virus in the computer, and if I would like to get it scanned, so I just clicked yes…  Min?”

Changmin face-palmed himself, and fought the urge to bang his head on the desk.

“That was a virus you just activated, umma,” Changmin sighed, watching as the computer refused to boot.  “I guess we’ll just have to reformat this computer.  Does this have a separate hard disk for data storage?”

“Euh… I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Jaejoong blinked.  “It’s not mine.  It’s Yunho’s.  He just let me borrow it.”

Changmin pressed the ‘delete’ button as soon as the option appeared, and then turned to Jaejoong, again.  “I think you should tell Yunho-hyung that his data is going to be lost.  All of them.”

“Eh!?” Jaejoong exclaimed in surprise.  “Can’t you do anything to prevent it?  I mean, I only clicked yes, and-and-“

“That’s exactly what a virus do,” Changmin mumbled as he checked the setup of the computer again.  “Luckily this laptop of his has a separate hard disk for recovery program.”

“Aish…” Jaejoong huffed, watching as Changmin got to work.  “Yunho’s going to be angry…”

“What makes you think so?”

Jaejoong and Changmin both looked up when they noticed two voices asking the same question-one belonging to Changmin, and saw Yunho standing at the door.

“Yunho!” Jaejoong exclaimed in surprise as he quickly stood up, and walked over.  “Uhm… your computer…”

“I know,” Yunho smiled at him and patted his head.  “It’s okay.  I’ve just moved my files to an external hard disk.  There should be a copy of everything there.”

“Ah…” Jaejoong nodded, then paused.  “Thank you,” he said softly as he hugged Yunho’s torso.

Changmin watched, and mouthed “You’re lying aren’t you?”, and Yunho simply smiled and nodded.  He shook his head, and proceeded to reformat Yunho’s laptop, while the two went down to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

Ever since that day, Jaejoong promised himself that he would learn more about computers, and be more careful.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Jaejoong stood at a bus stop, waiting for the bus to come, and looked at his watch again.  He had promised his mother he would come back to their house for that day, so he had to take another route.

The bus finally came, and he got on it, paying the driver as he walked to the back, trying to find a seat.  He blinked in slight disbelief when he saw a familiar figure, and quickly went over.

“Yunho,” he called as he sat beside him, effectively snapping Yunho out of his daydream.  “Why are you on a bus?  I thought you drive your own car?”

“Yeah, but I had to ask U-Know to drive it back home for me, cause he’s not available at the time I’m finished,” Yunho smiled at Jaejoong.  “Your mother told you to go back home?”

“Yeah,” Jaejoong nodded, and leaned on his seat.  “I’ll come over tonight.”

“Sure, I’ll be waiting for you then,” Yunho leaned on his seat as well, and pulled Jaejoong’s head to rest on his shoulder.

“They’re cold,” Jaejoong said suddenly, hands reaching up to hold Yunho’s.  “Is this why you told U-Know to drive your car back home?  Because you can’t drive with these hands?”

“Jae-“

“Stupid Yunho,” Jaejoong held Yunho’s hands tightly, and Yunho’s heart wrenched slightly at the sight of him crying.  “Why did you give me your gloves if this is going to happen?  Why can’t you just let me be?  It was my own stupidity to forget them…”

“Because,” Yunho starts, pulling Jaejoong closer to kiss his tears away, “I need your hands too.  I don’t want them to freeze.  I need them to keep me warm.”

And ever since that day, on cold days, Jaejoong would always take Yunho’s hands in his, and keep them warm.

Now Warm
