Chapter Two - Valentine’s and Chocolates

“Hyung?” Junsu called as he knocked the door to Jaejoong’s door.  Since Yoochun insisted on sleeping on the same bed with him, they ended up falling to the floor multiple times since his bed was a single bed, and thus, he couldn’t fall back asleep and was wide awake at the ungodly hour of six.

Yoochun yawned from beside him, obviously dragged out of bed by Junsu.  “Why don’t you go in?  I’m sure he won’t mind,” he suggested, shrugging a little.

Junsu looked at him almost suspiciously, then opened the door.  “Hyung- Minnie!  That’s not how you should treat your umma!  Argh!  Even I didn’t do that with him!” Junsu shrieked.

“What?  What is it, Su-ie?” Yoochun asked, wide awake thanks to Junsu’s high-pitched scream of terror.

He peeked over Junsu’s shoulder and found Jaejoong and Changmin lying on the big futon on the floor together.  Changmin had his arm under Jaejoong’s head, and the other around his waist, holding him close to him protectively.

“Oh my goodness,” Yoochun blinked at the sight in front of him, and at the fact the two remained undisturbed even after the scream.  Or was it an ultrasonic sound, and he was turning to a bat?

“Say, should we take a picture of it and send it to Seven-hyung?” Junsu asked sourly, crossing his arms in front of his chest.

“No, but take a picture anyway,” Yoochun shrugged and took his cell phone from his pocket, taking a few pictures of the sleeping Jaemin.  “Blackmail material~” he said gleefully.

“Okay, so now what do we do?” Junsu asked, looking at Yoochun curiously.

“Wake them up, what else?” Yoochun shrugged.  “We need as much help as we can to get those chocolates in boxes, and to distribute them to everyone.”

“So, pray tell, what do you have in mind?” Junsu asked, a little sarcastic.  “Obviously waking them up the normal way isn’t working,” he added.

“Oh, you wait and see,” Yoochun smirked smugly, and walked over to the still sleeping Jaemin, and kneeled down beside Jaejoong, leaning down to whisper in his ear.

Jaejoong suddenly shot awake, and, after looking around a few times, proceeded to whack Yoochun on the head.  He huffed angrily, but woke Changmin up, and went to take a bath before he prepared breakfast and lunch for them all.

“What did you say to him?” Junsu asked as he watched Yoochun nurse the forming bump at the back of his head.

“Oh, I told him Seven and Yunho are coming, and that they saw him like that.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Here, because I’m such a nice person, I’m giving it to you early,” Jaejoong scowled as he gave the cat/fox chocolate to Yoochun, along with his lunch box.

“Thanks Jae, you know I love you,” Yoochun grinned as he accepted it, and was whacked again, this time with a wooden spoon.

“Here is yours, Su,” Jaejoong ignored Yoochun’s whines of pain and gave Junsu his chocolate.  “And as an apology for forgetting your lunch yesterday, I made more for you today,” he added, smiling brightly and beaming slightly at him.

“Aw, thank you hyung,” Junsu hugged Jaejoong before he took the lunch box and nearly drooled at the contents.  “You know I can never be mad at you for long.”

“I know,” Jaejoong nodded.  “And this is for you Min.”

“Thank you Jae,” Changmin accepted gratefully as he helped himself to more fried eggs.

“So,” Junsu started.  “You’re finally going to tell Seven-hyung about your feelings?” he asked, looking at the neatly wrapped chocolate in a paper bag.

“Hopefully,” Jaejoong shrugged.  “Now, finish up your breakfast, we need to get to school in an hour if you want your plan to go smoothly.”

“Of course,” Junsu nodded, and shoved another piece of bacon into his mouth.  “You’re giving Yunho-hyung one too, no?” he asked, eyeing the dart and desperately stifling his laughter, remembering Jaejoong’s expression as he watched his creation shrink in terror last night.

Jaejoong nodded firmly.  “I’ll feel bad if I don’t,” he explained.  “He’s helped me a lot during this year.”

“Glad to know you’re a grateful person,” Yoochun snickered, and ducked to avoid the flying spoon.  Note to self, never tease Jaejoong when in his kitchen-he seemed to never run out of ammunitions.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Happy Valentine’s Day!” the four of them chorused as they greeted the students who passed through the front gate of their school building.  They gave one bar of chocolate for each student and the students merely thanked them briefly before walking inside.

“Hey Jae,” Seven greeted as he walked towards him-as he was the last in the line-with a bar of chocolate in hand.  “Whose idea is this?” he asked, looking at the other three.

“Junsu’s,” Jaejoong answered with a small smile.  “Are you going to the clubroom?” he asked.

“No,” Seven shook his head.  “I’ll be going now then, the headmaster talked about hiring an instructor for the girls, and wanted to ask me about it.”

“Oh, okay, see you!” Jaejoong greeted as he waved at Seven who walked off towards the main building.

“When you wave to someone, don’t flail your arms around or you might hit someone,” a voice said from behind him.

“Shut up,” Jaejoong pouted, and turned to face the speaker.  “Why are you so early anyway?  It’s not like there’s morning practice today,” he added.

“I always come early, if you fail to notice,” Yunho chuckled.  “You came early as well.”

“I was doing a favor,” Jaejoong replied, sticking his tongue out at Yunho.  “Have you gotten your share?” he asked.

Yunho shook his head and Jaejoong looked at the three who merely grinned at him.  “Curse them,” Jaejoong muttered mentally.

“Here,” Jaejoong handed one to him.  “Junsu’s for you,” he added.

“Oh?” Yunho raised an eyebrow.  “Does that mean there’s one from you?” he asked teasingly, grinning widely.

“If you keep that up, no,” Jaejoong huffed.

Yunho laughed and ruffled his hair.  “Are you giving one to Seven too?” he asked, and pushed Jaejoong aside to let the students behind them walk past them.

“Do you even have to ask?” Jaejoong mocked a sigh as he shook his head.  “But yes, there’s one for you as well.”

“Where is it?” Yunho asked, looking around.

“Patience,” Jaejoong shook his head, laughing slightly.  “It’s in my locker now.  I’ll give it to you after school.”

“Fine,” Yunho nodded.  “I’m going in first,” he said, and patted Jaejoong’s shoulder before walking off.

About an hour later, they’d finally given chocolate to everyone in their school, and they were walking towards their class.

“My feet are killing me,” Yoochun complained as he walked next to Junsu, whining a little.

“Oh shut it, you’re going to sit all day in class anyway,” Junsu slapped his arm.

Changmin and Jaejoong laughed at the two as they walked behind them.  The four of them were classmates, so they almost always stick together, especially in projects where their partners weren’t chosen by the teacher.

“Say, have you done the History assignment due this Friday?” Junsu asked as he looked to his side.

“…”

“He forgot.”

“Most certainly did.”

“Aaaaaaaaaaah~!”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Why are we here again?”

“Because we can pick locks, and our female friends are head over heels with Seven-hyung?”

“Damn it.”

“I think you should’ve said damn them.”

“We heard that!”

“Whatever.”

The sound of metals turning was heard, and soon enough, a click followed.

“Che, the paper bag must be it.”

“Look, look, a heart-shaped chocolate!  Ahahahah, so he doesn’t only look like a girl, but act like one too!”

“And what’s this, the world’s best archer?  Can’t he think up of a better compliment for Seven-oppa?”

“Whatever, let’s get our business done here.”

“Yeah, let’s.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Do you want me to accompany you?” Changmin offered as he watched Jaejoong pack his things into his bag.

“No need, Minnie-ah,” Jaejoong shook his head.  “It won’t be long,” he added.  “But can you keep my bag for me?” he requested, smiling sweetly.

Changmin sighed and took Jaejoong’s bag as well as his.  “I’ll be waiting at the front hall with Junsu and Yoochun then,” he said, and walked out of the class, leaving Jaejoong all alone since the other two had gone off earlier.

Jaejoong whistled to himself as he walked down the empty corridor leading to the locker area.  He twirled his locker key in his hand playfully, and stopped when he reached his locker.  Inserting the key inside, he turned it and pulled the door open, only to drop the key in surprise.

The words “Fuck you girly man whore” greeted him in big bold black letters at the back of his locker.  He looked down and saw a marker lying on top of his textbooks, beside the paper bag.

Permanent marker.  Water proof.

Sighing, he pushed the marker aside and stacked his books vertically, hoping to cover the words so the others wouldn’t see it.  He’d have to tape a poster over it tomorrow.

“Those people are unbelievable,” he muttered to himself as he took the paper bag, and was surprised again as the chocolates fell down onto the floor through a ripped hole at the bottom of the bag.  He hadn’t noticed it and was surprised to see the chocolates crushed.

The lime filling from inside the heart-shaped chocolate was sticking to the plastic wrapping, and the words at the end of the dart were barely legible.

“You made this yourself?”

“Yes.”

“Ah, you’re really talented Jae!  Even my mother can’t make one this good!”

“Thank you.”

“Oh, if you make one again, can you fill it with lime fillings?  I like them.”

“Will do!”

He bent down and picked the chocolates.  Closing his locker door and locking it, he walked off, throwing the empty paper bag into a trash can as he did so.

“Best archer in this school?”  Laughter.  “More like best archer in senior year, because there’s no other senior archer in this school.”

“Yah, I’m praising you!  Why are you degrading yourself!?”

“I’m being realistic.”

“No!  I don’t want a pessimist as a partner!”

“Fine, so what do you want?”

“You’re the best archer in this school-heck, maybe even in this town!  Admit it!  I know you want to.”

“Fine, fine, I’m the best in this school.  Happy?”

Another round of laughter ensued.

It was then, that Jaejoong finally noticed he was crying.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Excuse me,” Junsu called as he opened the door to the archery club room.

Seven and Yunho looked up from their seat.  They were talking about the instructor issue with each other when the three came.

“Yes?” Seven asked as he walked over to them, followed by Yunho.

“Is Jaejoong here?” Junsu asked, looking around the room.

“No, is there something wrong?” Seven asked back, frowning a little.

“Ah…” Junsu mumbled.

“He went to take something from his locker but he didn’t return,” Changmin answered in his stead.  “We tried looking at the locker area but he wasn’t there, so we thought he might be here.”

Seven and Yunho looked at each other, each one wearing a worried expression on their faces.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Jaejoong sat alone in an unused classroom.  It was used as a storage room for unused sculptures and paintings now, and almost all sides of the room were covered with white cloth.  He sat on the only clean desk in the place, knees brought to his chest, and the chocolates placed in front of him.

He traced patterns on the chocolate and smiled softly.  Somehow, that place had always given him the calm feeling whenever he was feeling upset.  That was why he loved it so much, although it was very dusty.  In fact, the table he was sitting on was cleaned by himself.

“Why are you here?”

“I like it here.  It’s nice and quiet.”

“It’s creepy to me.”

Laughter.

“You’ll get used to it if you come here often.”

“I don’t think I’d want to do that.”

“Then why are you here?”

“Because I saw you here when I walked past.”

“Oh.”

“So why are you here?”

“I always come here whenever I’m upset, or need some alone time to think.”

“Why can’t you just go home?”

“No… Junsu is too noisy.”

“Wait until I tell him that.”

“You wouldn’t dare.”

“Why wouldn’t I?”

Shrug.

“You just don’t strike me as the type of person who goes around telling other’s secrets.”

“That’s a good thing, right?”

“Of course it is.”

“Doesn’t it get lonely here after a while?”

“I guess… when I feel lonely, I’ll hope someone finds me here.”

“So were you lonely just now?”

“Hm?  Why do you ask?”

“Because I found you now.”

“Were you lonely just now?”

Jaejoong smiled at the familiar voice.  He knew who it was without having to turn and see who it was, because only one person knew of his hiding place.

“Maybe,” he answered softly.

“The others are looking for you.”

“I know,” Jaejoong sighed.  “Aish, I should be going now, wouldn’t want to make them worry anymore,” he said and got off the table, turning to see his companion.  “Thank you.”

“What for?”

“For being here with me,” he smiled, and walked to hug him.  “I’m thankful you’re my friend, Yunho.”

Yunho patted Jaejoong’s back sympathetically.  “It’s the girls, right?” he asked.

“Maybe,” Jaejoong shrugged.

“Where’s my share?” he asked, smiling a little.  “Those girls aren’t interested in me… so it should be alright, no?”

“Ah… that,” Jaejoong shook his head.  “I don’t know.  They crushed yours too.  Maybe they thought both are for Seven-hyung.”

Yunho sighed.  “They’re still edible?”

“I guess.  The wrapping is still intact.  I’ll probably melt them again to eat later, or simply throw them away,” Jaejoong shrugged, walking towards the door.  “Are you coming?”

“Give them to me.”

“What?” Jaejoong asked disbelievingly, wondering if his ears played tricks on him.  “Are you out of your mind?  It’s crushed!”

“Give them to me,” Yunho repeated, holding his hand out.  “Your work should not go to waste.”

Jaejoong handed the chocolates to him.  “Fine, but if you have stomachache tomorrow, don’t complain to me,” he said, smiling a little.

“Oh no,” Yunho grinned, “I’ll simply sue you.”

Jaejoong slapped his arm, and they walked out of the classroom together, laughing as they did.

“Oh, so it’s the world’s now?” Yunho teased, looking at the broad end of the dart.

“Hey!  I’m proud of my partner, so what?” Jaejoong protested.

Yunho smiled and ruffled his hair again-a habit he found very hard to kill.  “Thank you,” he mumbled, and put the chocolates in his pocket.

Unknown to them, a figure watched them from a distance, smiling slightly at the exchange.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Where were you!?” Junsu shrieked when he saw Jaejoong and Yunho walking towards them together.  “You had me worried sick!” he shouted, shaking Jaejoong’s shoulders vigorously.

“Sorry, sorry,” Jaejoong said, smiling uneasily.  “I just needed some time to clear my thoughts.”

Junsu pouted.  “Can’t you at least tell us first?”

“I’ll do that next time,” Jaejoong nodded.  “Where’s Yoochun?”

“He went home.  His mother wanted him to drive her to a boutique.  He asked me to notify him when you’re found though,” Junsu shrugged and took out his cell phone.

Yunho patted Jaejoong’s head.  “I’ll be going then,” he said softly.  “Don’t forget tomorrow’s practice.  You’re participating in the upcoming competition with us.”

“Okay,” Jaejoong agreed and waved at him.

As Junsu talked to Yoochun through the phone, Changmin walked over to Jaejoong.

“Don’t do that again,” he said, hitting Jaejoong’s head softly.  “You had me worried,” he added, hugging Jaejoong close and resting his chin on top of his head.

“I know, I’m sorry,” Jaejoong mumbled.  “I’m not a good mother, am I?  Always making my son worried.”

Changmin laughed.  “You aren’t,” he shook his head.  “But I won’t trade you for anyone else.  Excluding my own mother of course.”

“Are we going?” Junsu asked, turning to look at the two.

“Yes,” Jaejoong answered as Changmin let go of him.  “Where’s my bag, Minnie-ah?”

Changmin handed him his bag, and Jaejoong looked at him.

“Where’s your bag?” he asked, wondering why Changmin was only carrying one bag.

“…”

“Did you leave it at the club room?”

“Dang it.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“So,” Changmin started, “what happened?”

The three of them had just finished their dinner and were lounging in the living room, watching a random TV game show which involved a lot of food-that was exactly why they watched it, although Changmin was continually complaining about how food shouldn’t be wasted like that.

And Changmin was staying over again that night.

“I went somewhere and Yunho found me, simple as that,” Jaejoong shrugged.

“Ah, a hideout only the two of you know of,” Changmin sighed.  “How romantic.”

“Shut up, or you’re not having any breakfast tomorrow.”

End of Chapter Two

End of chapter two.  My humor is starting to fail me~ TT____________________TT

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed.  I noticed this chapter is a little long because of the dialogues.  Tsk, tsk, I’ll need to work on that.

To clear things up, so there will be no mistakes, here are their… years?:

Yoochun, Junsu, Jaejoong, Changmin: sophomore

Seven: junior

Yunho: senior

I think it should be clear from the two chapters, because Seven mentioned that Jae is a sophomore (in the first chap), Yoochun, Junsu, Jae and Changmin are in the same class (this chap), and Yunho says he’s a senior (during the talk with Jae in this chap) :3  only Seven’s year isn’t clear, but he’s in between the five
