Chapter Four - Investigations

Jaejoong looked up from his book when he saw Yunho exiting his room-their room, actually, but that was not important-dressed nicely.

“Are you going somewhere?” Jaejoong asked.

“No duh,” Yunho rolled his eyes.  “Do you have to always ask the obvious?”

“It wasn’t that obvious, really,” Jaejoong huffed.  “So where are you going?”

“Somewhere out there,” Yunho shrugged.

“I kinda noticed that you wouldn’t go to the bathroom dressed that nicely,” Jaejoong commented.  “Or the kitchen, or the living room for that matter.”

“Wow, you’ve gotten smarter!” Yunho cheered.

“I’m sure this book here is heavier than the last one I threw at you,” Jaejoong glared at him.

“Aish, you,” Yunho shook his head.  “Get a life won’t you?  Go out with some friends instead of just staying there reading all the time!” he said.

“Shut up,” Jaejoong glared at his book.  “Stop talking like you know everything.”

“Hey,” Yunho called as he walked over.  “What happened?  You always get moody whenever that topic is brought up,” he pointed out.  “Something wrong?”

Jaejoong rolled his eyes.  “No.  Go away.”

“Pissy all of a sudden,” Yunho shook his head.  “Whatever.  Hey, Chun, Min, Su, are you coming?” he shouted towards the hall where the other bedroom was.

“Coming!” Junsu replied from the inside, and shuffling was heard.

“Where are you going again?” Jaejoong asked again.

“To a dance competition,” Yunho shrugged.

“Cheering for your team?” Jaejoong lifted an eyebrow.

“No dummy.  I’m participating.”

“You are!?”

“Do you have to sound that surprised?” Yunho asked in annoyance.

“Well yeah, I do,” Jaejoong shrugged.  “But… dance competition?  I didn’t know you dance.”

“Well,” Yunho started.  “Just like I don’t know things about you, you don’t know things about me.  We’re even.”

“I don’t like how you make it sound,” Jaejoong glared at him.

“Oh?  And why not?”

“Just ignore it,” Jaejoong sighed.  “Be sure to get home before ten.”

“Okay,” Yunho agreed, and walked out of the apartment unit.  Soon enough, the three came out of their rooms, and followed Yunho outside.

“Kids these days,” Jaejoong mumbled to himself, but then paused.

He walked over to the front door, and locked it twice, leaving the keys hanging to make sure the boys wouldn’t open the door before he wanted them to.

“Now, let’s get to work.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Hm, thank goodness they taught me how to use a computer,” Jaejoong mumbled to himself as he “borrowed” Changmin’s laptop to go look for some information on them.

He took out his notebook and pen.  “Let’s see now…”

“Jung Yunho, son of a lawyer.  Park Yoochun, son of a CEO.  Kim Junsu, son of the principal, and Shim Changmin, son of a doctor,” he scribbled.  “I suppose they don’t want to follow their fathers, so they’re acting up this way?” he opened the history and deleted all the pages he opened.

He shut the laptop down, and closed his notebook.  “Let’s hope they didn’t lock their doors,” he said as he walked over to their rooms, wondering why he suddenly felt like a spy.

“Let’s check Yunho’s room first,” he decided, and went inside.  It was still like the last time he went in, but there were some things he hadn’t checked before.

“I think this is his desk,” he mumbled to himself.  He looked around, and found a CD shelf, where there were a lot of rock and heavy metal music CDs.

“Eh?  Are these for his dancing?” Jaejoong asked himself, and spotted a CD player nearby.  “Must be it.  So, good habit is dancing,” he concluded.

Moving on to the next room, he looked through the room, and found a few things.  Yoochun’s classic music CD collection, Junsu’s Nintendo Wii, game CDs, and pop music CD collections, and Changmin’s Harry Potter series, along with a few book on sciences-but not medical books.

“Ah, so…” Jaejoong took out his notebook again.  “Yoochun’s good habit has to do with music, Junsu’s bad habit is playing game, and good habit is singing.  Changmin’s good habit is reading, and his interest in science.”

He pocketed his notebook, and his cell phone suddenly rang.

“Yeoboseyo?” he greeted as he answered the call.

“Hey hyung.”

“Junsu?  What’s the matter?”

“Can you come to the school’s hall?  The dance competition is held there.”

“Err?  Isn’t that a little… late?”

“Mm, not really.  Yunho-hyung’s turn is in fifteen minutes.”

“And?”

“I don’t know.  He said he doesn’t want you to watch the other’s turn.  Only his.”

“What!?  Aish, that guy!”

“So, are you coming?”

“I will.  I’ll be there in about ten minutes.”

“Okay.  I’ll tell Yunho-hyung.”

Jaejoong hung up, and huffed.  “That guy is unbelievable,” he muttered.  “Well, I better go get ready now.”

He went to his bag, took a pair of jeans (he only wore a pair of shorts at home), and a hooded shirt.  After he changed into them, he quickly got out of the apartment and locked it.

He was lucky the school wasn’t far from their apartment.  He was sure he’d be late otherwise.

“Junsu?” Jaejoong called again.

“Yes hyung?”

“Where are you guys?”

“Near the stage.  Section C, row one.”

“Right.  I’ll come over in a while.”

Jaejoong walked into the hall, and nearly jumped up in surprise when the crowd suddenly cheered, standing up as they screamed and applauded.

“Someone’s performance must’ve just ended,” Jaejoong commented to himself, and made his way to section C-with the help of a security guard of course.

“Hey hyung!” Junsu greeted as he waved at him, and pointed at the empty seat between his and Yunho’s.

“Thank you Su,” Jaejoong nodded gratefully at him as he made his way, and turned to Yunho.  “You’re one big jerk, you know?” he huffed.

“You won’t want to watch other performances when you see mine,” Yunho smirked at him.  “And don’t tell me you aren’t glad I didn’t ask you to come earlier.”

“Huh?”

“So what did you find in the house?” Yunho asked, smiling down at him.

“Aish,” Jaejoong slapped his arm hard.  “Mind your own business.”

“Well, since you’re sticking your nose into mine, I don’t see why I shouldn’t do the same,” Yunho shrugged, and got up when his name was called.  “Watch me.”

“It’s like I can not watch,” Jaejoong rolled his eyes.

Yunho chuckled, and walked onto the stage.

The cheering stopped when he stood at the center of the stage, and Jaejoong looked around in wonder.  Soon enough, the music started, and Yunho started dancing.

“Ah, this is in one of his CDs earlier,” Jaejoong commented.

“You said something hyung?” Junsu asked as he looked at him.

“No, don’t mind me,” Jaejoong shook his head.

Yunho’s turn soon ended, and Yunho walked back to his seat as the crowd cheered and applauded loudly, making Jaejoong wince at the sheer loudness of it.

“Come on, we’re going home,” Yunho said as he took his jacket and put it on.

“Huh?  But isn’t the competition not finished yet?” Jaejoong asked.

“It’s alright,” Yunho shrugged.  “They’ll tell me if I win.  If not, that’s too bad,” he added as he ushered the four other outside of the hall.

“Sheesh, what’s wrong with watching the others?” Jaejoong grumbled.

“You’re here for us,” Yunho reminded, and Jaejoong rolled his eyes.

“Doesn’t mean I can’t do other things,” he huffed.

“Whatever,” Yunho replied.  “Go home and make us dinner.”

“You’re not allowed to order me around,” Jaejoong glared at him.

“You want me to say please?” Yunho smirked.

“Fine, I’ll make dinner,” Jaejoong stomped back to the apartment.

“You sure like to make him mad, hyung,” Junsu noted.

“He’s cute when he’s mad,” Yunho shrugged.  “Come on, let’s go.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Who wants to go to the grocery store?” Jaejoong asked as he walked out of the kitchen.  “I’ve made a shopping list.”

The four looked at him.

“Okay fine.  I’ll go,” Jaejoong huffed.  “Don’t go anywhere before dinner.”

“Want me to drive you there?” Yunho offered.

“Why don’t you just go?” Jaejoong asked, clearly irritated.

“I’m not interested in going alone,” Yunho shrugged.

Jaejoong glared at him.  “Fine, come on.  Let’s go.”

The two walked out of the apartment, and down to the parking area, where Yunho kept his car.

Yoochun looked at Junsu.  “Do you think it’s safe to let Jaejoong get in the same car with Yunho?”

Junsu frowned.  “Well… I’m sure Yunho won’t kill him.”

Yoochun sighed.  “That’s not what I’m worried about.”

Meanwhile, down there…

“I didn’t know you have a car,” Jaejoong commented as he checked the car out.  “It’s nice.”

“Thanks, I guess,” Yunho said.  “Get in.”

Jaejoong got into the car, fastened the seatbelt, and suddenly wished he never agreed to Yunho’s offer.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“I think I left my heart at the driveway,” Jaejoong groaned as he held onto the side of the car, trying to make the world stop spinning.

“You’re exaggerating,” Yunho remarked.

Jaejoong glared at him.  “I’m never going anywhere in your car again.”

“So?  How do you suggest we go home later then?” Yunho smirked.

“Shut up.”

The two walked inside and split up to look for the things they needed faster.  They met up at the cashier, and Jaejoong waited for Yunho to pay for the groceries.

“You’re enjoying this way too much,” Yunho rolled his eyes as they walked back to his car.  He was carrying two plastic bags of groceries while Jaejoong was holding onto a chocolate bar.

“Hm?” Jaejoong asked, trying to look innocent.

“Get in then,” Yunho put the bags into the backseat, and got into the driver side.

“No speeding!” Jaejoong warned, almost hysterically.

“What, you scared?” Yunho teased.

“No, but in case you didn’t notice, that policeman looked like he’s ready to pull you over anytime,” Jaejoong glared at Yunho as he motioned to the said policeman.

“Worry not, Princess.  He won’t be able to catch up,” Yunho grinned, and his hand rested on the gear stick.

“That wasn’t what I meant!”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Jaejoong walked into the apartment looking sicker than three pregnant women combined together, and he suddenly regretted eating that chocolate bar before getting into the car.

“We’re back,” Yunho announced happily as he walked in with the two grocery bags.

“See what I told you?” Yoochun commented.

“Do you think we’d have to get Jaejoong-hyung to a therapy center?” Junsu asked.

“Hey, I’m sure it’s not that bad,” Yunho butted in as he walked across the living room, and into the kitchen.  “You talked as if I did a crime.”

“Speeding is a crime, Jung Yunho!” Jaejoong screamed from the bathroom.

“Oh,” Yunho shrugged.  “At least I don’t kill.”

“You almost killed me!”

“You’re no fun,” Yunho pouted.  “Come here and quickly make dinner.”

The four paused as they heard the toilet flush, and the tap run.

“Why are you in a hurry, anyway?” Jaejoong asked as he got out of the bathroom, wiping his face with a small white towel.  “Are you going out?”

“Yep,” Yunho nodded.

“Where to?” Jaejoong frowned.

“A local bar,” Yunho replied.  “We’re going to have a few glasses.”

“Why don’t you just buy some?”

“We’re not allowed to store liquor in this apartment,” Yunho explained.  “The landlady would report to our fathers if she saw us bringing some in.”

“So you go to bars instead?” Jaejoong looked not amused.

“Well, they don’t know where we’re going,” Yunho reasoned.  “And it’s not like we’re going to get drunk.”

“Fine.  But be back before ten,” Jaejoong sighed in defeat.

“Of course.”

“I swear, one day or another, I’ll ban you guys from going out if that’s all you do,” Jaejoong huffed, and walked into the kitchen to start preparing dinner.

“Don’t say that.  Of course we don’t only go out to bars,” Junsu complained.  “Only those drunkards do.  Changmin and I only go to bars once in a while.”

“Isn’t that the same thing?”

“No!”

“Whatever…”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Jaejoong lay on the couch, staring at the ceiling again.  He had found out their bad and good habits.  Now, all he had to do was convince their fathers to let them indulge in whatever they liked (he figured they rebelled because they weren’t allowed to), and convince them to listen to him.

But how?

The first thing sounded easy enough, since they trusted him as their caretakers.  The second thing, he wasn’t so sure.

He sighed, and turned.  Hopefully, something good would happen soon.
